.@NoToMisogyny has been banned for 7 days for tweeting ‘Wow that was homophobic. And misogynistic. Men cannot be lesbians, ever. If they are attracted to women they are het men’ #WarOnWomen @TwitterSupport - men can't be lesbians, why do you allow this homophobia on your platform?

@renclithero has now been suspended for tweeting the above only hours ago.

Not on Twitter but am I right in thinking their username is *Jane Far is a Rough Old Bloke"? As annoying as the TRA's are, that seems unnecessarily goady.

"Men can't be lesbians" was presumably in relation to a particular TW so committed the mortal crime of "misgendering".

Twitter must have a gagillionty people working on banning people who misgender but they allow tweets like "I want to rip your head off" to stand...

Twitter responds to reports from users. Interestingly enough, I was one of a number of users to report the @renclithero account - because there were some really offensive and hateful comments on there.

Marvellous actually. Though it's a private company. It's up to Twitter if they feel comments have breached their rules.

Ir doesn't. When those comments are made and reported they are removed. I've reported quite a few of those users and a ban has been fairly instantaneous when reported.

@FermatsTheorem I recommend you report those comments when you see them. Twitter moderation is pretty good once they've been alerted to such content.

I don't think stopping to low personal insults does anyone any favours. I have a huge amount of respect for those brave enough to advocate for women's rights and ensuring that other perspectives can be heard but the quoted twitter name is just nasty.

It's good that they were banned the law states that trans woman are woman so if they want to push hate let them get banned.

What law is that then?

The law states that TW are "legally" women only if and when they meet all the criteria to qualify for a Gender Recognition Certificate. Note that it's gender (sex role stereotype), not sex! Nowhere, in law, are they acknowledged as biological women. Apart from the fact that a miniscule number of TW (less than 10%) qualify, the fact that Birth Certificates are altered to denote Female at birth (as opposed to MT, TW, TIM, or some such) is, of course, a matter of some concern. And a can of uncanny worms. If they were female at birth and ID as female now, then that would perforce mean they are actually "cis" and, therefore, exempt from any trans status/protections/rights. It erases their own unique and misunderstood lived experience as transgender deserving of all our respect, empathy and solidarity. Nowhere is it written in stone that TW are ciswomen. And this is why a complete overhaul of the GRC, GRA, EA and associated terminology is essential. This Tower Of Babel has been deliberately built up over decades by stealth but it can and will be deconstructed brick by brick, for the benefit of every single one of us.

False. Generally English law uses sex to mean both sex and gender. The only statute which mentions gender is the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and s9 says that if someone's gender is female then their sex is also female - automatically.

It’s just so tiring to have to keep reading this kind of stuff. Men can’t be lesbians. We aren’t just gonna go about redefining old things to mean different things. That bear no relation. That’s not how language works. Men cannot be lesbians by the virtue of the fact that they are men. I cannot wait for the end of all this nonsense.

I had a twitter account where I used to post opinions that might get me in trouble. It only got suspended once I started posting gender critical stuff.
