Emma Healey was subject to a data breach

EH was subject to a data breach herself, then does it to others. So she knows what it feels like so gets revenge by doing it to others. Shocking!

As far as I can tell that was all publicly available information?

Kalikan · 19/04/2018 12:50

Whether it was or wasn't public info, I can imagine it must have been a pretty scary experience to have all her info being circulated by vile MRAs; unfortunately, after reading this, my contempt for what she chose to do by posting MN users' IPs etc has only increased - it shows she only really cares about harm to herself, not any harm she causes to other women - am sure there's a name for people like that, but wouldn't want to lower the tone on MN by calling her it.

Maybe blackmail?

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 19/04/2018 13:11

Hi all,
We've had a couple of reports about this thread, and while we see (given we've been deleting our posters' saying what uni she went to, current employer etc) that one might expect this to go as well, we won't be deleting it as she wrote it and presumably sanctioned the photo etc.
No attacks, though. Let's try to play the ball rather than the man, especially while this matter is under investigation. Thanks all, and what a time to be alive!

spontaneousgiventime · 19/04/2018 13:14

Thank you YetAnotherHelenMumsnet. I probably deserved to have my post deleted as I am bloody angry after EH has been victim of this and then does it to others. I shall moderate my language.

Flowers to Mumsnet mods right now.

Isn't it just....... Flowers

TerfinUSA · 19/04/2018 13:28

Emma Healey was NOT subject to a data breach, what happened was that the subject of her article compiled her details (which she had posted online publicly, so there was no breach) in a manner intended to intimidate.

This is different from what Emma Healey has done, which is to make private data public.

There's obviously a similarity in that she is big on trigger warnings, safespaces and what not, but doesn't respect these things in respect of those she disagrees with.

birdbandit · 19/04/2018 13:46

Oh my MN, you have been so lovely to me, a huge ThanksCakeGinfor HQ.

I am beginning to feel a wee bit sorry for the ex-mod, she's clearly a bit daft or easily led.

It is a weird time we live in. I think the ex-mod wants a social media voice, to be known/famous. Oh dear.

picklemepopcorn · 19/04/2018 13:47

The treatment she describes in that article sounds eerily familiar.

Mumsnut · 19/04/2018 13:52

Doesn't it just? I really hope she doesn't support the use of the same tactics by TRAs.

NotTerfNorCis · 19/04/2018 14:09

Weird isn't it that MRAs were big news (at least in feminist circles) just a couple of years ago and now they've faded so much? Absorbed by the alt right I heard.

ALittleBitOfButter · 19/04/2018 14:14

I can't understand that article.

nauticant · 19/04/2018 14:56

I'm not sure what to make of this when EH's details, and photos, are still out there publicly available on the Internet and any time EH does something to draw attention to themselves, it's there to be found readily by Google. (At least they were last night.)

I don't get why EH, if they're worried about this, hasn't made more use of privacy settings.

And oh our birdbandit, thank you for the booze and baking, we are grateful for the support. Just want to clear one teeny thing up tho' ... EH was a press intern. Not a mod.

jeaux90 · 19/04/2018 16:47

I hope MN is taking action against her.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 19/04/2018 16:50

You need to choose your internship a little more carefully.

But as my mum used to say, if you pay peanuts and you get a monkey. 🥜🐵

TripleRainbow · 19/04/2018 16:57

Why does a press intern have access to the comments?

TerfinUSA · 19/04/2018 17:06

" Just want to clear one teeny thing up tho' ... EH was a press intern. Not a mod."

What do you mean she wasn't a mod? She had moderator rights, it's shown in the screenshot.

If you're saying that she wasn't employed as a moderator but merely as a 'press intern' and that this is somehow less serious as a result, well then you need to explain why your 'mere intern' had user access rights. (I can guess why, that your site lacks/lacked basic user roles such as 'content publisher' or 'forum moderator' or whatever, and just gave everyone everything, but I'm not sure why you think this clarification in some way makes this shit smell any sweeter.)

AsAProfessionalFekko · 19/04/2018 17:31

I feel a data protection issue cropping up here...

YetAnotherHelenMumsnet · 19/04/2018 17:32

Hi all, Justine has posted here regarding what she intends to do. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3226060-The-MNHQ-Moderation-Team-Thread-2?msgid=77234513#77234513
And no, of course we are not trying to minimise anything at all, we were addressing birdbandit really, just as part of the modding team. Apologies if it came across any other way, we can assure you that we are taking this most seriously indeed.
Justine explained about the permissions in her first post, they were related to a job EH was doing. We'll find it for you as well in case you didn't read it, hang on...

AsAProfessionalFekko · 19/04/2018 17:36

What's that I hear? Someone cacking their pants?

TerfinUSA · 19/04/2018 17:37

oh yes you're right, the reason was to be able to 'contact posters for press requests', not a very good reason really as I see a 'message poster' button next to every post here, and I'm definitely not a moderator!
