Just wanted to send my support - I think you are amazing and that your speaking out against this madness makes a huge difference.

It must be so tough..... You are much loved. Flowers Flowers

Miranda you write brilliantly. You are a legend. Thank you Flowers

AncientLights · 11/04/2018 14:44

Really can't anything more apart from I love reading and re-reading MY's answers. Accurate, pithy, totally to the point.

wonderstuff · 11/04/2018 14:53

Brilliant.

Ereshkigal · 11/04/2018 15:04

Such a great piece Miranda.

TheGoldenBough · 11/04/2018 16:10

What a brilliant response, Miranda!

I don't see how any thinking person could reasonably object or reject anything you have written there.

Onemorning · 11/04/2018 16:19

Excellent Miranda. Flowers

SunsetBeetch · 14/04/2018 20:18

Have you seen this from Miranda? James Vessey-Miller, Communications Officer for South East Essex Green Party has written to complain to the Labour Party!

mirandayardley.com/en/no-country-for-non-men-how-the-green-party-is-trying-to-oust-an-elected-labour-lgbt-officer/

OvaHere · 14/04/2018 20:38

We call on Southend Labour to end its affiliation with Yardley, and we criticise her selection as the Party’s LGBT+ Officer on the grounds of her “gender-critical” views and commentary.

Reading this comment from Vessey-Miller it occurred to me that perhaps many people think that gender critical feminism is something that has only been invented in response to transgender ideology but actually being a gender critical feminist goes way back to the 2nd wave and perhaps earlier.

It's post modern queer ideology that has changed the definition of what they believe gender is. Older feminists and radical feminists have always believed gender as a construct is harmful and have been pretty consistent in this.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 14/04/2018 20:39

Jesus Christ. The Green Party are publicly witch-hunting Miranda for thought crimes.

WTF?

I used to be a Green Party member. I'm embarrassed Blush

Yes something else gave me the same thought a few days ago.

We need to be emphasising that gender crit is a long standing tenet of feminism at every opportunity, maybe?

Battleax · 14/04/2018 20:58

(Garbled grammar but hopefully decodable. Grin)

Battleax · 14/04/2018 20:59

Decipherable!

That’s it, I’m connecting the breathalyser Blush

OvaHere · 14/04/2018 21:04

Yes, counter the notion that it's a new thing thought up to upset trans people. The basic principles that link to the liberation of women from oppression have been around a lot longer than the word transgender.

Winewinewinegin · 14/04/2018 21:10

This is the top search hit for gender critical definition on google.

transadvocate.com/gender-critical-feminism-the-roots-of-radical-feminism-and-trans-oppression_n_14766.htm

This website is positioning gender critical as anti trans. They say it is the same as TERF:

"Gender Critical Feminism (GCF) is a euphemism for Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminism (TERF). There is no ideological difference between the TERF and “Gender Critical Feminist” (GCF) movement; they are one in the same. GCF teaches that because sex is a natural binary, intersex people are actually just deformed men and women and trans people are always the sex they were assigned at birth."

So is this site saying supporting their definition of trans is inherently anti-gender critical feminist views? That anyone who does not share their beliefs about gender and sex is by definition anti-trans?

Also can anyone tell if this is google's ranking or it's a paid ad?

Winewinewinegin · 14/04/2018 21:13

Title of above article:

"Gender Critical Feminism, the roots of Radical Feminism and Trans oppression."

Popchyk · 14/04/2018 21:18

No Country for Non-Men

Grin

Honestly the Greens are a total embarrassment.

OvaHere · 14/04/2018 21:18

Googe have been known to mess around with algorithms due to the high number of Silicon Valley TRAs. I believe it was discovered that googling 'women killed in 2017' (or similar) brought up mostly results for transwomen.

OvaHere · 14/04/2018 21:21

I wonder if a history of gender critical feminism is something an organisation like WPUK could do something on? Make people aware of the origins of it.

SirVixofVixHall · 14/04/2018 21:29

I love Miranda too. [flowers ] .

Popchyk · 14/04/2018 21:39

"The chair of my Constituency Labour Party received this needy whine from a certain James Vessey-Miller, Communications Officer for South East Essex Green Party. "

Miranda has really made me laugh tonight.

I am tickled that this earnest young gentleman of limited vocabulary imagined that he could go up against Miranda.

Oh, the folly of youth.

jedenfalls · 14/04/2018 21:49

Miranda is fucking brilliant.

I peaktransed fairly recently, and I hadn’t thought too deeply about the TIM perspective, but yes, this self ID madness will erase TIMs too.

And that is a terrible thing. We need to celebrate our differences. Not buy into the bullshit that there aren’t any

ArtemisRhodes · 14/04/2018 22:17

"We are very disappointed to find out late last night that you have recently appointed Miranda Yardley to the position as Southend Labour’s LGBT+ Officer.

Miranda Yardley holds many views that we feel are incompatible with the role of LGBT+ Officer, and her vocal anti-trans stance makes her a dreadful appointment.

Her Transphobic and “gender-critical” views are questionable at best, and incredibly hurtful and verging on hate-crimes at worst.

Yardley’s large online following regularly directs a disgusting amount of vitriol and personalised attacks against many LGBTIQA+ Activists, including many of my colleagues."

Let me fix that for ya!

We are very disappointed to find out late last night that you have recently appointed Lily Madigan to the position as Rochester Labour’s Women's Officer.

Lily Madigan holds many views that we feel are incompatible with the role of Women's Officer, and her vocal anti-woman stance makes her a dreadful appointment.

Her gynaephobic and “gender-uncritical” views are questionable at best, and incredibly hurtful and verging on hate-crimes at worst.

Madigan’s large online following regularly directs a disgusting amount of vitriol and personalised attacks against many feminist activists, including many of my colleagues.

You're welcome!

TerfsUp · 14/04/2018 22:21

Flowers for Miranda.

SirVixofVixHall · 14/04/2018 22:35

I particularly love Miranda’s two word replies on twitter. (Or even one word replies ) . They are always brilliant.

Popchyk · 15/04/2018 12:32

I can't see Miranda's tweets today - they were there last night.

Protected apparently.

Presumably Miranda is being hounded yet again.
