Schools in Minneapolis have introduced self I.D and 'non-binary' category for students to use on all district forms - meaning they have access to sports teams, scholarships and bathrooms. Thoughts?

Why is support for the LGBT community constantly put in direct opposition to women's sex based protections? Feels like this is this is white men making us fight each other over the crumbs from their tables

I think this has the best intentions, but seems that girls will lose out. Particularly in sports.

It frustrates me that the article is framed as pro-LGBT so that any opposition is cast as homophobic. Really this is a concern regarding women's representation/safety/rights.

New York just announced they’re respecting self ID in prison- they’ve got 12 trans places and 26 prisoners identifying as trans. Article wasn’t clear on whether they were increasing trans places or moving people to female prison estate. Again I’m sure people are acting with best intentions and it’s a difficult call, I’m sure mtf trans people have huge issues in the male estate, but equally so many women in the female estate will have experienced male violence, it feels like that’s being at best overlooked, if not ignored completely.
