Girl Guides policies on girls consent and safeguarding

A couple of questions. Latest response says the below:

"We’ve been asked why we don’t simply use exemptions under the law...we welcome all guidance that helps us navigate this complex area. However, as a girl-only organisation Girlguiding does not have the right to exclude trans young people from guiding and nor would we wish to. "

• I would assume as a single sex organisation, guides would remain open to girls identifying as boys. But could legally exclude boys identifying as girls. Is this correct?

• What is the policy for adult leaders regarding sleeping, changing, toilets, especially with the girls?

• How do DBS checks work with trans volunteers?

There is another safeguarding issue here. The whole emphasis seems to be on secrecy, no-one must know the child's,leader's biological sex. However if that child/leader needs medical attention it is essential the medical professionals involved know the biological sex and if any hormone drugs are being taken. So there has to be a protocol about this possibility.

They are wrong about what the law requires. They have been told this several times and referred to the relevant legislation . They are still insisting that they are legally required to admit males as guides and leaders despite having the legal position clearly and comprehensively explained. I can only conclude that they are deliberately lying.

I think they rushed into it after lobbying by trans orgs and now are doubling down and being stubborn rather than admit the stupidity of the decision they rushed into. Typical of large organisations.

“ I can only conclude they are deliberately lying” . This is so worrying. Anyone involved in child safety knows that gaslighting is a big red flag. Telling girls that another child with a penis is a girl like them, is lying and manipulation on a grand scale. Not allowing girls to have boundaries or privacy from boys, or adult males, is abusive. Who is leading this agenda ? What is happening in all-girls boarding schools, does anyone know?

There's so many scenarios in which this was wrong. Even if they came home and said "another girl wanted to curl up and chat to me at night time" that would sound more like a sleepover to me and would t raise warning bells like it would with a boy/boy turned girl!!

Oh ref scouts above - I get they separate boys and girls/safeguarding around that - but would they put a transgirl in with the girls and a transit in with the boys...and presumably wrt leaders would they disclose? Presumably there could be similar problems despite having both sexes if they split differently for sleeping.

I have a sneaking suspicion that for Scouts it will wind up being that transboys and transgirls will be placed with the girls on any outings.

This is already happening with other things like athletics. Transwomen compete against women and transmen compete against women.

Who is coming up with these ridiculous decisions!
