A Woman's Place. On a t-shirt worn by a man.

Or a woman or a fucking giraffe for that matter.

WHERE ARE THEIR BRAINS?

@terryleather

From that thread you linked:

'Let’s let that sink in first: gender is being medically and psychologically regulated. Imagine: someone an “expert” about YOUR identity that’s not actually YOU. That pathologises and strips autonomy, and provides strict rules about what gender “means” and “how” you must do it'

Now substitute race /age/any other biological condition for gender and see how that plays.

(Is what I wish I could say to her.)

NotTerfNorCis · 02/04/2018 17:10

Also: But even out of context not centring “reproductive systems” in feminism is important because we shouldn’t reduce gender to biology. Isn’t that the whole bloody point of feminism?! “One is not born a woman”

She was talking about socialisation, she didn't mean someone born with a penis could become a woman you nitwit!!!!

Angry

NotTerf

Every one of the tweets on that muppet's thread is more ignorant and ridiculous than the next.
The whole thing made me want Gin and Wine - at feckin 10 o'clock in the morning!

Parklife!

NotTerfNorCis · 02/04/2018 17:12

Haha yes I've had to stop reading it. Angry

merrymouse · 02/04/2018 17:13

I think genders, chakras and auras need exactly the same amount of regulation.

Destinysdaughter · 02/04/2018 17:16

I'm too old for this bullshit. It's not like we don't have enough other issues to be dealing with, like equal pay, sexual assault, DV and FGM etc. This feels like a huge and unnecessary distraction. Some days I'm up for the fight and others I think, how have women's rights gone back since the eighties FFS??? Angry

MargeH · 02/04/2018 17:18

Ha ha. I bet the person who was on Sefton NUT Twitter duty over Easter is crapping themselves right now at the backlash.

Destinysdaughter · 02/04/2018 17:19

There's a thread at the moment about how do you deal with becoming invisible in middle age, I tell you what, I'm glad I'm older and not subject to this bullshit as a young woman. Sorry I have nothing more useful to say, just sick of it all...

Destinysdaughter · 02/04/2018 17:21

They might as well have written, A woman's place is on her knees sucking a man's dick.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/04/2018 17:26

The whole point of the "A Woman's Place" slogans is that they subvert the original idea of a woman's place being in the home supporting her husband while he does all the important things. They just basically turn it back to its original sexism.

^ This this this this this. Grrrrrr.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 02/04/2018 17:31

A woman’s place is supporting her Scorpio colleagues.

boatyardblues · 02/04/2018 17:33

I shouldn't be laughing, but that post ^ is spot on. It is bitter laughter, though.

RaininSummer · 02/04/2018 17:56

Spot on Boat.
