I've just realised I have never heard this word said out loud. That's odd isn't it?

I am not actually sure how its said. Does the u get pronounced or is it more like menstration

(Bear in mind I have had surgery endometriosis and have had a miscarriage and 2 babies so you'd expect it to be mentioned at some point)

I think it’s

Men’s -true- ayshon

QuentinSummers · 01/04/2018 20:23

What thanks said

Fishfingersandwichnocheese · 01/04/2018 20:24

Neither have I. I’d considered old fashioned/overly formal tbh.

Even NHS letters refer to having your period.

AncientLights · 01/04/2018 20:27

And you'll hearing it even less often when the TRAs get their way and forbid talk about such womanly yucky things.

grasspigeons · 01/04/2018 20:28

is it the correct term or just an old fashioned one then?

(thanks for the pronunciation tips - if it ever comes up at least I wont embarrass myself now Grin I get quite a few words wrong as I've only seen them written down)

Correct term.

MrsWooster · 01/04/2018 20:38

It's officially pronounced 'trouble with the downstairs...' but only mouthed silently while hitching the bust.

mzcracker · 01/04/2018 20:39

The only time I've ever heard it used was during the sex ed section of biology class back in secondary school. Since then never!

Boulshired · 01/04/2018 20:54

I would definitely of pronounced it wrong, but I do not think I have ever said it and cannot remember hearing the word.

QuentinSummers · 01/04/2018 21:08

mrs Grin

TheFootOfMyStairs · 01/04/2018 21:39

Mmmm... men's-true-ation... Goes hand in hand with dysmenorrhea for many of us. Dis-men-or-rear. Period pains. Another thing I guess we're not supposed to talk about because it doesn't actually exist in this world where gender supposedly rules and our sex is deemed irrelevant...

Republic of Gilead, here we come...

ReluctantCamper · 01/04/2018 21:40

I thought it was having the painters in accompanied by a meaningful look

AwkwardSquad · 01/04/2018 21:43

Surfin’ the crimson wave...

There’s also amenorrhea, absence of periods in a woman of reproductive age.

Cooroo · 01/04/2018 22:47

Blimey I've heard and said it lots. I hate the icky euphemisms.

Wombman · 02/04/2018 00:06

Maybe now we're called menstruators we should call tras amenorrheals or even auterines, acervixes, or just plain men.

TheFootOfMyStairs · 02/04/2018 00:13

Maybe now we're called menstruators we should call trans amenorrheals or even auterines, acervixes

Can we do this? Shall we make this a thing? I think it's excellent and I'll use these terms in my speaking life from now on.

ThreeWeeBirds · 02/04/2018 00:16

@mrswooster 😂

thebewilderness · 02/04/2018 00:28

It is like nuclear, more often mispronounced than correctly so.

grasspigeons · 02/04/2018 11:14

Now I am worried I'm not saying nuclear right
Although I am sure I have picked up that one from the BBC
