Jackson who is allowing his lawyer to talk about suing for recovery of costs shock and saying she has a "victim mentality".

Shock what a vile bastard he is!!

iheartmichellemallon · 28/03/2018 23:49

You've put it so well Maryz.

Maryz · 29/03/2018 00:00

In fact, having read this and a few more articles about him, I'm more sympathetic to Olding than to Jackson who seems to have plenty of money to go along with his entitled attitude.

I believe Olding is genuinely sorry. I don't think he thinks he did anything illegal, but I think he gets that what happened was (morally at least) wrong.

Jackson, on the other hand, will be backslapping in the rugby club over a pint, I think.

Oh Ffs the woman is being named in the comments section of one of the papers. Angry

Sparkyduchess · 29/03/2018 00:11

I believe her.
I am sickened by the 'yay, lads' responses I've seen on Twitter.
I cried for the second time in a similar situation (first was the rapist Ched Evans).
I was helped by DS and DH who are equally angry.

How did we get here in 2018. We are one of the most developed countries in the world. How are we here?

xaxi · 29/03/2018 00:20

zibidoo you are kidding...surely not.

I have watched the news conference held by the public prosecutions office. When they say please continue to report rape, well even the woman saying that does not say it with any conviction. The look on her colleague's face next to her is of utter despair.

I just want to thank the victim and I wish the victim could issue a statement post trial.

I thought the victim was incredible to withstand this. I hope she gets real life support. ThanksThanksThanksThanks

I felt the messages were damming but I suppose we never saw all of them and there were deletions galore.

I guess I was helpful for a different outcome.

xaxi · 29/03/2018 00:21

Also please contact the newspaper which is divulging the victims details so they know to stop it. AngryAngry

God that poor young woman was bleeding so heavily that it soaked through her clothes and was apparent to the taxi driver. How the hell can anyone think she consented to that?

Surely it is ABH anyway, regardless of consent? If he'd punched her in the face and made her nose bleed we wouldn't be arguing about consent.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 29/03/2018 00:31

It was a commenter that named her. They’ve since deleted it but I along with many others saw it. I’m not sure what the legal ramifications of publicly naming her are is reported. Does anyone know? The person is laughing their ass off about the responses they’ve had to it. Hmm

xaxi · 29/03/2018 00:32

You know I really thought they had more than enough to go on.

-I believe her

  • I believe the taxi driver

-The victim texts and says it was non -consensual

-She goes and get tested

-She expresses her concern that she won't be believed

  • I believe her over and over again,

-The Lewd WhatsApp messaging. They way they deleted messages.

I hope they don't get to play rugby again.

Luckymama2014 · 29/03/2018 00:37

There is a difference between regret and rape. Maybe be sure you know all the facts before you jump on the 'I believe you' bandwagon.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 29/03/2018 00:43

Hmm sounds like you have all the info.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 29/03/2018 00:44

It’s just another gobshite spinning an already wrung out line.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 29/03/2018 00:45

I should have had a bingo card for all the cliched lines that were used throughout this trial.

Maryz · 29/03/2018 00:53

Yes, there is a difference between regret and rape. There is also a difference between consensual sex between a man and a woman, and as many men who can get away with it using a woman for sex.

Consensual sex doesn't usually involve penetration causing bleeding (so much bleeding that it's still ongoing 24 hours later). Nor does it usually involve one of the sexual partners being taken home, in tears, by a third party.

If there are so many more "facts" I'm sure Luckymama (welcome to MN by the way) will tell us all about them.

OkPedro · 29/03/2018 01:06

Oh fuck off luckymama

Imagine having sex and regretting it
And then going to have internal exams
Going to the police
Then going to court
Having your character ripped apart
Then being told your rapists are not guilty
Yeah sounds like a woman who regretted having sex

If you regretted it you'd hide away and deal with the "The Fear"
Not go through an horrendous ordeal
I believe her

boxthefox · 29/03/2018 01:07

One week from now, and it will be forgotten by so many.

OkPedro · 29/03/2018 01:12

box
Why do you keep saying that Confused

It almost as if you want it to happen 🤔

boxthefox · 29/03/2018 01:16

It is reality,

Get back to me in a week and we can see.

futureforall · 29/03/2018 01:34

Well box it I won't be forgotten by me and I doubt it will be forgotten by women on this thread and women in NI.

Your point being?

Another I believe her here.

Do elaborate LuckyMama what do you mean by facts that are missing exactly?

Did you read the ted and whats app exchanges???? What did you think of them?

Do you think if you just regret sex you would put yourself through a court case?

If so please do elaborate I would love to hear your reasoning?

The cab driver knew she was in a state and they were speaking in code.

Like you use terms like "spit roast" to describe consensual sex?

futureforall · 29/03/2018 01:34

Text not ted

Totallymyownperson · 29/03/2018 01:40

Someone on this thread said these verdicts upset her as much as the Ched Evans verdict. I hope like him these so called men are still getting abuse in 18 months like he is

futureforall · 29/03/2018 02:07

Is Ched Evans actually getting a hard time? I thought he had quite a pr machine going for him?

sashh · 29/03/2018 04:43

We could get rid of the "reasonable belief of consent"

Yes, this needs to change. Not did the rapist believe he had consent but to would a reasonable person believe they had consent.

When a man believes he can have sex with any woman he wants he has a licence to rape.
