Hi,
I have started a petition to get the government to review current paternity law to make it more balanced and allow families more freedom to bond in the first few months of parenthood.

Here's a clicky link but mnhq prefer petitions to go in the petitions section. Suggest you report your post and ask for it to be moved?

I'm struggling to see why father's should get three months full pay and three months half when mothers don't?

Limon.. it depends on which conpany you are with.... some give 3 months full then 3 months at 70% of total monthly income then 6 months stat pay. Men get 2 week made up of 2 days full pay and 12 days stat pay.....

Well it would be nice if women also got 3 months on full pay. Statutory minimum is 6 weeks.

Certainly would be good to have more equality. Perhaps companies that offer enhanced schemes for women should be obliged to give the appropriate proportion of that enhanced package to a man if they were going to be staying at home to allow their wife/dp to return to work earlier than the end of the enhanced deal.

That sounds a bit incoherent but eg if a woman takes 4 months off and then returns to work and her dh/dp is at a company that offers 2 months on full pay and 4 months on half pay, then that man should be entitled to take 2 months on half pay at that point.

The safeguards to prevent serial inseminators from getting free time off would need to be very strict.

Well we can’t expect the poor menz to be able to cope on the same kind of money women have had to endure for years, can we?

I won’t be signing. There’s already shared parental leave.
