Deaths of women and transwomen (may be distressing)

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm incandescent about this tweet from our favourite women's officer Angry

It hopefully goes without saying that any murder is a serious issue, and no-one deserves to die because of who they are. The apparent murder of this transwoman in London is appalling, and should obviously be condemned.

But. But, but but...

LM blames "transphobes and the media" for "stirring up moral panics" about transwomen. So obviously the MAN who has been arrested for her murder is not to blame, it's the nasty TERFs....

And there is jack shit on LM's Twitter feed about the WOMEN who have been murdered in London recently. A Google search for "women killed in London 2018" brings up:

A woman found dead in Twickenham and her husband and children found dead in E Sussex

A woman stabbed to death in Camden

The sentencing of a man who raped and murdered his niece and attempted to murder another woman last year

The arrest of a man suspected of murdering a 22 year old woman who went missing on Christmas Eve

A woman who was stabbed to death on a steet in Redbridge in early January

The finding of remains believed to be a woman who disappeared from London, presumed murder, six years ago

A woman who was murdered in her home in January this year

And that is just from the first three pages of search results.

Where was LM's outrage about these horrific crimes? Where were the accusations of bigotry? Were they not terrifying too?

Angry Angry Angry

These men will stop at nothing to attack women. They even take the murder of a transwoman (probably a prostitute) and claim women are to blame.

They are hideous misogynists.

We see you.

TemporarySign · 25/03/2018 14:08

Surely this shows exactly why trans people do not belong in Women's posts, and should in fact have their own?

CapnHaddock · 25/03/2018 14:17

JF used some lovely misogynist language in that tweet. ManFriday has really upset the TRAs

I am not the language police not do I want to be but I am dismayed to see the use of "truscum" and "Ne-c**ts" to describe TRAs. I deplore it when TRAs use this kind of language and, to me, that abhorrence goes in both directions.

Let's not stoop to their level.

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 25/03/2018 16:01

Of course LM isn't tweeting or outraged by women's deaths as HE/SHE DOESN'T REPRESENT WOMEN... no matter what he/she thinks.

Am tempted to suggest that LM represents only LM but if generous I would suggest they represent trans women and trans women only.

Real women don't come onto the radar and if they do they are seen as TERFS if they dare to suggest something he/she (oh fuck it...HE) doesn't agree with.

AutumnStar93 · 25/03/2018 16:30

@TerfsUp You're right, I apologise. It just made me really angry, is all. I'll be more careful in future.

TerfsUp · 25/03/2018 16:52

AutumnStar93 I am genuinely sorry if I made you uncomfortable. It was not my intention and I apologise, too, if I made you feel bad.

AutumnStar93 · 25/03/2018 16:59

@TerfsUp No, no it's fine. Looking back at it now, I feel I took it a little too far. I just let my anger get the better of me. In a way, I did stoop to their level, but don't worry about it, you didn't make me uncomfortable at all. :)

TerfsUp · 25/03/2018 17:01

If you want to make TRAs angry, make fun of them! Grin

KittyMcKitty · 25/03/2018 17:02

Very sad and my condolences are with the victim and her family.

The language Jane uses when describing women is very much male language- women are “squaking” and have silly stunts - blaming and seeking to demean and trivialise us - nice!

Why do Jane, Lily et al refuse to name the problem and acknowledge that it is male violence?

Atthebottomofthesea · 25/03/2018 17:33

Is this the extent of their argument?

sane person: "Maybe we should wait for all the facts before jumping to conclusions?'

TRA "Transphobe"

It is ridiculous, it really is.
