Apparently the pupils have requested it.

The angering thing is that GG for instance have always been very feminist. Swimming ponds (male and female) good (rare) public hangouts for gay men / lesbians. Most women have little interest in invading gay male only spaces though, or going in and changing with men, the same cannot be said the other way around.

I mean the ponds a men only / women only but fairly well known as being gay friendly.

Personally I think these schools are being quite clever. They are very clear that they don't admit anyone who is physically or legally male. If anything they are reinforcing the idea the segregation (where in place) should take place on the grounds of sex not 'gender'.

I don't think you can legally change your sex under age 18 at the moment. To get a GRC you need to be over 18.

Exactly. In practice this is maintaining sex-segregated space throughout the school

My teenage daughter says that the Social Justice Warriors in the US on reddit and tumblr are driving all of this.

Seems to be boardering on the religous cults we used to hear about

I am not sure I want to click on the link / what is this group about?

The article is a really bad report of a quite bad report and doesn't bear scrutiny at all.
The girls can already wear trousers.
The school held a conference on feminism a couple of weeks ago and this was the only line from the whole day that was picked up.
The school is undergoing a lot of building work just now, the girls have apparently been discussing the desire for gender-neutral loos (which would seem to me to be a simple matter of signage - "student" loos rather than "girls'" loos), the head said "why wouldn't we consider it" in the circs.
Genuinely, a fuss about nothing. The school is incredibly sane.

I'd be asking the question why on earth a girl transitioning to be a boy would want to stay in an all-girls' school anyway? If they genuinely see themselves as male, wouldn't they at least prefer to be amongst males at an all-boys or mixed?

Very odd.
