Well.

I'm not really sure what to think and I rambled quite a bit and I wish I'd been more organised in my approach but he spoke to me for an hour (totally overrunning his surgery time). He recommended two ways in which I could take my concerns about self-id and assorted issues further.

He was perfectly lovely, listened intently and took lots of notes. I did not manage to dissect the law on the female participation on boards because we spoke mostly of the wider issues women face when they would like to discuss the possible impact of self-id on women's rights. He was entirely unaware. And not happy about what is going on.

I have decided to follow his advice and take this further as suggested. Anyone who is interested to join in, please PM me.

Are your ways forward Scottish specific OP?

If not then I'm in...

Badgerthebodger · 23/03/2018 19:56

Bloody well done, that’s a really positive step!

RipleyAlien · 23/03/2018 20:02

Well done. I’m still thinking about what I’m putting in my letter.

CharlieParley · 23/03/2018 20:21

@CertainHalfDesertedStreets yes they are but I'm also considering contacting my MP and asking the same questions of her - there must be ways to do this that are specific to the House of Commons or Lords. My MSP has also suggested a very reasonable argument I could make which may be effective. AND I still need all the help I can get in being coherent, so you're very welcome.

@Badgerthebodger and @RipleyAlien Thanks. I admit I felt a bit nervous - this is IRL after all and not some online persona, but nothing ventured nothing gained and all that. Plus I'm self-employed so not scared employment wise which made this a whole lot easier, nerves and all.

WildAndPrecious · 23/03/2018 21:46

Well done CharleyParley! Good for you and seems pretty worthwhile.

Freshlylaidterf · 23/03/2018 21:50

Well done Charley Have just emailed a letter if to mine and said Id be happy to meet. Hope it goes as well as your meet.

Winewinewinegin · 23/03/2018 22:00

That's great! Be careful sharing anything personal or that you feel might be misused just in case as you never know who is who online.

DrSusan · 23/03/2018 22:03

@charleyparley would you mind sharing who your MSP is?

TheXXFactor · 23/03/2018 22:38

would you mind sharing who your MSP is

Please don't name sympathetic MSPs or MPs on here, unless they are openly GC. They will be deluged with abuse and probably deterred from supporting us

These boards are closely watched by TRAs

CharlieParley · 23/03/2018 22:39

@DrSusan @WildAndPrecious @Freshlylaidterf have PM'd you

@Winewinewinegin thanks, if you PM me I'll give you the main points if you want them (I've written them up and will just copy them over so it's no bother)

DrSusan · 23/03/2018 22:50

Yes, realised as soon as I posted the question!

CharlieParley · 23/03/2018 22:56

@TheXXFactor wasn't planning on it but thank you for the reminder. And for the record I have no idea if he is gender critical as we discussed a different aspect of the issue.
