So I have finally found the energy to create rather than just react all the time. One project I have been mulling over for some time has been "The TERF Monologues", a take on the Vagina Monologues, with women expressing what TERF means to them. I'm particularly interested in hearing from women about :
The first time you were called a TERF and/or you encountered the term.
What the subject you were talking about at the time that prompted someone to call you a TERF - was it on social media, irl?
Any other times you have been called a TERF or seen anyone else being called a TERF.
What does it feel like to be called a TERF?
Any other thoughts you may have about "TERF".
I'd like submissions to be as personal as you feel comfortable making them. By all means theorise, but I'm trying primarily to capture the feeling of the Vagina Monologues, with a more "personal testimony" vibe as much as polemic.
I'd ultimately like to turn the sores into a group spoken word performance, but depending how it goes, may start with a pamphlet (or even book form if I get enough stories!)
Don't worry about your writing not being"good enough", women's authentic voices are always good. It's not really about the writing, it's about our stories. So tell me your stories, please!
I haven't given much thought to length as I'd rather see what women come up with and not inhibit their voice by worrying about that at this stage. Maybe I will get dozens, maybe I will get two or three. Who knows? It's a leap of faith for me that women have stories they want to tell.
So, pass the message on (you can copy and paste to your FB page, etc or other boards if you like) and please get writing!
