Gender Diversity reporting

Recent NC but I've been on these boards a while.

As you'll all know the gender diversity reporting rules have recently come in and we are seeing the (woeful but that's for another thread) results in the press. Can we use this to highlight the issues with Self ID?

What would the stats look like in your organisation if they excluded Women who Self ID as men and vice versa? What would targets for Women on Boards look like? This is the sort of question that HR/C-Suite types might take seriously?

Does anyone know who wrote the report on gender diversity that led to the reporting requirement? I bet someone on here would have a link/intro to that person and could raise it with them.

A lot of this campaign has come out of socialism (nothing wrong with that) but a lot of people here will have contacts in the City etc and may be able to get influential people to take notice by speaking in their language.

Generic views and non-outing offers to help here please and we can follow up by PM.

I think this would be good - we should be asking to keep separate stats on biological women and trans women.

Winewinewinegin · 23/03/2018 09:35

Might also want to highlight the increase in numbers of people describing themselves as trans, as often people say 'oh it's such a small number' with gender dysphoria'. FairPlay for Women might help with stats/estimates, or maybe Tavi? Could look at trends of increasing as well as current numbers.

And what about transmen also? Would be interesting to see if they end up getting paid more.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 23/03/2018 09:49

I think if you track ID separately from biology you will find that Self ID men are paid like women and Self ID women are paid like men.

Surely even the most woke of organisations must see that there is a legitimate interest in tracking this?

For example, does anyone know/have an intro to Lord Davies of Abersoch (wrote the original report on gender diversity in UK plc) or Helena Morrissey (or anyone else prominent in the 30% club).

What really pisses me off about the so called gender reporting is that most organisations can not even get equal pay right.

I don't want to out myself at all but I have corrected equal pay in organisations and discriminatory pay. I wish this would just be forced to be fixed.

I can't tell you how much it totally fucks me off that the transactivists are erasing women.

I think this will be welcomed by some organisations. Ones who suddenly have more of an out when it comes to any historical analysis and so on. Self identification will just fuck things up from a statistical perspective.

The people to lose out as a result of this gender bull shit are women and low paid men and women.

I also feel inroads into workplaces recognising pregnancy and maternity leave and returning to work after women having children will be lost.

I mean look at that guardian article about the transman who was pregnant - no mention of women or sex and the transman was celebrated.

Meanwhile having a child as a woman is unlikely to land you a film deal but you do significantly reduce your life time earnings - especially if you take more than 6 months off work for maternity leave and you do suddenly become a prime target for discrimination, restructuring and slow careeer growth.
