May help to explain why the state is no longer permitted to require hormone treatment and/or surgery to legally transition. My understanding is that the relevant court case before the ECHR upheld the requirement for a medical diagnosis of dysphoria but held that anything physical was a breach of the trans’ person’s rights. I haven’t been able to find an English translation of the ECHR case as yet but will post the French language version shortly.

This link should work.

Mumsnet formatting plays havoc with any URL containing square brackets.

DH is fluent French, but if I asked him to translate that for me he would probably poke me in the eye! Grin

Thank you Haruno.

It seems there is some pretty high level support for trans rights. I wonder if female prisoners have access to legal advice which might assist them in formulating human rights based objections to forced incarceration with male-bodied persons? Seems to me there must be a case to be made. Are there any charities active in this area, does anyone know? I’d be happy to try to help formulate a case.

BeyondDeadly - understandable! An official translation will be in the pipeline I am sure. Worth keeping an eye on. I’ll try and post it when I can.
