Hello lovely Mumsnetters. I hereby declare myself a proud TERF, and I know that there are many here who feel the same. I spend (too much!) time on these boards,and I often see posters saying how worried they are, how they are thinking of writing to their MP, discussing it with friend/colleagues or joining Twitter anonymously etc. Can I say;
JUST DO IT!
Sorry to shout, but "thinking" and discussing it here with like-minded others won't get the message out there. We are in danger of turning into an echo-chamber. I meet people all the time who have no idea what the proposals are, and frankly struggle to get their heads around it as it seems so totally bat-shit. They see it as so "out there" that it won't affect them. We have to challenge that view.
I've contacted my MP, the Labour Party, Swim England, the General Medical Council and the NHS for starters. All the contact info is readily available. It's not hard, it won't take long, and you don't have to construct a flawlessly worded essay - and there is plenty of info on here to help. Just make your point. The more people that do, the more mainstream (and safe) calling out the TRA's will become.
