JK Rowling liked this tweet. I think she might be one of us. Will be interesting to see if this kicks off...

It would be terrific if JKR felt able to do media interviews about the way people are hounding and trying to silence her on this issue. It would blow the whole #nodebate issue wide open, particularly if it can be linked to Dr W’s recent evidened blog on this abuse. JKR is a highly respected public figure who has done a lot of good work for society off the back of her success. If people knew what she was being subjected to, they would be appalled.

boatyardblues · 22/03/2018 07:01

There’s also Amnesty’s report on the abuse wimen are receiving on Twitter, which was published yesterday. This is highly topical. I really hope the MSM pick up on this.

Irishfeminist · 22/03/2018 07:09

Boatyard that's ironic about Amnesty as they support the sex industry over prostituted women and in Ireland are headed by a misogynistic arse.

Mner · 22/03/2018 07:13

I've gone through and reported loads of the comments for being offensive. Can someone else do the same? See if we can get some of it taken down?

boatyardblues · 22/03/2018 07:14

Can you screenshot them before they get zapped? In some respects it would be good to let them stand so people can see how vile the abuse is.

GnotherGnu · 22/03/2018 07:18

Joanna, if you're reading, please reach out somehow to someone. We really need you.

Well, it might be polite to get her name right. As for reaching out - she's not one of the Four Tops.

FairfaxAikman · 22/03/2018 07:43

Correct @Collidascope

SimonBridges · 22/03/2018 12:58

I do feel the term ‘men in dresses’ to be rather rude and inappropriate.

However the abuse and backlash she has received over this will highlight the TRA to a lot of people.

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 22/03/2018 12:59

Yeah, wrong of us to get excited that we might actually have a powerful woman prepared to stick up for other women.

She's claiming she liked it by accident in a 'clumsy and middle aged moment'.

So disappointing.

SimonBridges · 22/03/2018 12:59

Oh ffs.

HomeTerf · 22/03/2018 13:05

Her 'people' are claiming she liked it by mistake. She hasn't unliked it since the backlash occurred. I'd say we shouldn't give up on her yet...

athingthateveryoneneeds · 22/03/2018 13:10

Typical.

We must depend on ourselves. There's no one else.

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 22/03/2018 13:16

Yeah but they must have run it by her before issuing a statement.

That time when JK Rowling could have stood up for women.....but chickened out.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 22/03/2018 13:20

I will be very disappointed if she does retract this.

Never read her books or seen any of the films - first time really formed a view on her was on the 'who do you think you are' episode she was in.

I was really impressed with her. Thought she was intelligent and reflective and also very respectful of history and its impact on the present. (Family lived on borders in Europe).

We all benefit today from brave people standing up in the past - I hope JK feels able to use her voice in the present to benefit future generations.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 22/03/2018 13:25

I think she must see the truth, but under some contractual agreement at the moment that says she has to STFU.

I'm comfident any sane person cannot ultimately believe this crap. Slowly open people's eyes is the only way.

FlorenceLyons · 22/03/2018 13:28

Rebecca Salt, who represents Rowling, said: "I’m afraid JK Rowling had a clumsy and middle-aged moment and this is not the first time she has favourited by holding her phone incorrectly."

How fucking patronising is that? Really not sure what to make of this incident at all.

nauticant · 22/03/2018 13:29

Very disappointed by this. Prioritising brand value is a poor show.

Teacuphiccup · 22/03/2018 13:30

You know what middle aged women are like. You worry that they might have a political opinion but never fear it’s just that they can’t use their phone because of their withering ovaries getting in the way. Hmm

That’s the most patronising piece of shot I’ve ever heard.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 22/03/2018 13:30

I've never used Twitter - is that possible to accidentally do what they say?

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 22/03/2018 13:31

"Please trans bullies, don't be nasty to me, I'm just a silly menopausal lady and I didn't mean it!"

PATHETIC.

PleaseDontGoadTheToad · 22/03/2018 13:33

She liked a gender critical tweet back in October.

It clearly wasn't a mistake.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 22/03/2018 13:33

They've almost said 'real women and their menopause symptoms - old ladies with their aging ovaries' can't be trusted with their own phone.

An insulting statement, is it possible accidentally?

Carriemac · 22/03/2018 13:39

What is she afraid of? She is married to a neurologist FFS.
Think of the science JK

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 22/03/2018 13:40

Yes I go with what I said: contractual - at the moment. JK - ditch the contracts - your country needs you! not just for women- speak up on behalf of future generations. Men IME really agree too.

God, imagine 'Who do you think you are' programme in 20 years - well your grandad was actually your grandmother and you've no cousins as the sister was sterilised at 18 to swap sex etc

Oh and anyone that had a public voice did not speak out to change this hideous distortion of 'free choice'.

Not funny.

nauticant · 22/03/2018 13:40

The sad thing about paying obeisance like this is she puts herself in hock to the trans ideology. This means she'll have a much harder time asserting herself in the future. Don't expect to hear any deviation from the party line from her for a long time.
