Writing to your MP re Self ID

Was talking to DH last night about when MPs start to take notice of 'issues' such as Self ID and how many Petition signatures would alert them to something awry and he said, when he had asked MPs previously, that as long as the letters were individual and not standard ones generated by an NGO or something like 38 Degrees, once they got into double figures.

Sorry, very long sentence.

But my point is sign the period re Self ID but also write a letter because we don't need that many to make an impact.

My constituency has over 30 signatories on the Self ID petition - if we all wrote in to our MP as well, massive majority not withstanding, they would see that women are concerned.

I’ve already written to my (Tory) MP about this, and received a rather discouraging response. But maybe I should try again now it seems to be coming into the mainstream a bit more.

Yes, keep going and see if you can get other people to, and don't be put off by being put down.

When you write again try and hook your new letter to something topical and perhaps focus on a different issue - you just have to be careful not to look like you're a 'nuisance correspondent'
