This has actually really wound me up. You'd end up feeling obligated to wear the fucking stupid badge and then you are declaring your "gender".

If we keep this up, I will not choose "woman" because I don't identify with any of the shitty stuff that "woman" now means. I identify as having a vagina. That's it. It would be nice to give the majority of people the option of changing the meaning of their "identity".

I've recently had a number of questionnaires that asked my "gender", but with a free text box. I have tended to go with something along the lines of:

My sex is female. My biology is woman. My gender is an oppressive and damaging imposition by society, primarily with the patriarchal aim of suppressing women, and as such I reject the entire concept of gender.

I'd do that but I feel like the people who only know half of what's going on will get confused and think you're calling yourself non binary. Hmm

Hmm. Do you think I need to switch to "gender is made up oppressive bollocks, and I am defined by my biology"?

bebanjo · 11/03/2018 13:01

I have been thinking about this recently.
I don't know if we could use this to make a statement.
Maybe we could all aggree on a simple response, and when it comes up a lot it could get others thinking.
Somthing like, sex not gender
Or maybe go for ' Spartacus '
I'm happy to be told I'm talking nonsense.

This may well have happened to me with a recent survey I filled out. The analysis expressed surprise that ~10% of respondents were non-binary as they had ticked the 'other' box for gender. I'm guessing I wasn't the only feminist to do that and write in an explanation.

My pronouns are vagina/vulva

CuriousaboutSamphire · 11/03/2018 17:08

I'd take the blank one and put my name in the gap.

You know, like a name badge but somehow different!

Pshaw!!!

JellySlice · 11/03/2018 19:52

I'd take the blank one and write

obvious

I feel quite angry about this. I have worked in services for vulnerable people and I am very concerned that vulnerable users needs are being put second to lefty batshit narcissism. If a very mentally ill person, a confused older person or a child being taken into care see these on council staff and get confused or intimidated if confronted by a man who has a female pronouns badge. How do they navigate this. They may become scared of saying the wrong thing or can be bullied because they accidentally said he. A delusional person may feel they are being tricked etc how is this supposed to work in practice in a school meeting for example.

The act of requiring these badges is a violation of the GRA.
