Before I came here and reached Peak Trans I would have read this differently. I would have been trying hard to sympathise and understand. Now I just find it horrific. What woman would ever say

Maybe I’d finally get the chance to have some of the sex I’ve always secretly wanted, the kind that’s assumed in The L Word, the sort that’s depicted in queer zines and lesbian erotica.

Is that seriously the reason he wants to 'be a woman'? FFS. It turns out he is pretty happy to have breasts and a dick. But believes a fully functioning vagina may be an option. Despite all he says about suicidal feelings, he comes across as simply wanting to have very interesting/complicated sex.

Definitely AGP - describes falling in love with his own face and body.

This bit is the worst:
I knew if I didn’t take HRT, my gender dysphoria would grow from anxiety and depression into suicidal ideation.

So if he can't facilitate his sex obsession he will have to die at hsi own hand?
Orgasms seem to be very addictive to some men, they go to extremes for them .

This suicide or orgasm ultimatum is applied to young children, who then have their genitals mutilated and are sterilised. All very distorted.

Apparently, trans bodies aren’t even attractive enough to be showcased on enormous billboards in Manhattan. They aren’t beautiful enough to be shown on gym advertisements, in beer commercials, in music videos. Apparently, trans people are only sexy when the taboo of being trans is sexy.

  1. most women don't have bodies deemed "sexy" enough to be on billboards or music videos. And most of us don't rant about that.
  2. there is more to womanhood than beauty/sexiness

Articles like this are quite illuminating as to how some trans people view women though.

Also I am quite annoyed they called their penis a clit. No it isn't a clit. Fuck off.

" It’s society’s fault that I’m grappling with this issue, I realized. I’m being alienated by the outside world."

Oh, someone call the writer a waaaahmbulance, for treatment for his victimhood.

He does sound a bit self-engrossed, but everyone does who writes that sort of navel-gazy "My Journey" type post. I actually agree with what he says though about the importance of celebrating the trans-ness of trans people and their bodies. It's the total conflating of "trans" with "woman" that is so problematic.

I find it very interesting to read how the portrayal of women in the media and I guess porn affects a man. I also feel excluded by most of these images of females - some of which are digitally altered to look almost beyond human. I suppose my female socialisation means I react differently to the internalised shame and pressure to change. I wonder if being socialised female meant I never really expected to be represented anyway?

So dysphoric that he was horrified by the idea of his dick shrinking. Hmm

Why should we celebrate people pumping their bodies full of artificial hormones? What exactly is there to celebrate about that?

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 11/03/2018 20:15

Nothing at all.

Women came off HRT in droves because of press scaremongering about minuscule risks, and yet these are women's hormones that benefit women on balance. I don't think the medical profession in as universal about Hormone Therapy that is not a replacement but a regime working against the bodies normal functioning.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 11/03/2018 20:17

@Wanderingwomb

Porn affects men.

hipsterfun · 11/03/2018 22:56

I hate to break it to you Ana, but you’ll never have a vagina.

The wonder of a woman’s body is as much what it does as how it looks; a surgical approximation is a surgical approximation. Sorry.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/03/2018 02:16

Literally couldn't live with a smaller penis? 100% sex and fetish driven. So tired of hearing people like this wank on and on about themselves.

thebewilderness · 12/03/2018 03:09

Pop culture and the MRAs both claim that women can have as much sex as she wants whenever she wants. Young men often believe this and their envy grows. The more they obsess on the sex they could have as a woman but cannot as a man the farther down the rabbit hole they go.
