Polly curtis @ pollycurtis ^This is outrageous. NUJ leader was earning significantly less than her deputy.^ <<< article with headline about 23% pay increase below article with headline bbc challenged over equal pay ^She was supposed to get 12.5% more, but needed a 23% pay rise to achieve that. If the unions can’t get this right what hope is there?^ ^BTW that report and the rather chirpy headline is from the union mag, the journalist, which runs the headline above: BBC challenged over equal pay. What about the NUJ??^ ^I’m quite high pitched with outrage right now.^ ^Here’s the maths: she’s been moved to £83k, which 12.5% more than 73,206. She was on £68k before. Roughly £5k less than her deputy.^ ^It only became apparent when she went on maternity leave. How?^ ^But it's ok I just got this email from the NUJ.^ <<<<NUJ supporting parental equal pay ^Wait what? This is the cover story:^ <<<<< Growing Fury Over Pay Crisis ^So it’s good they reporter it but in amongst the fury they’ve soft soaped it. Love the phrase “pay erosion”. Like it’s a natural process...^
