From a mostly-lurker Flowers to MN for providing a space to allow this discussion to take place and Flowers to all the incredible women having the discussion.
Please keep talking as I am sure there are lots of us reading and learning, even though we don't often contribute.

Flowers For HQ and the wonderful, brave, erudite women who've broke it down for me.

Yes many thanks to Justine and the crew. Once they peaked they seem to have done the same "WTF?" as the rest of us.

I'm sure they also need

Thank you MNHQ for enabling an oasis of freedom for women and mothers to talk about the realities of our lives, from our biology to our relationships, to our place in society, without being shouted down, dominated or silenced by men.

Delurking for my first post ever to say thank you. I was desperately seeking like-minded people and found them here. Thanks so much MNHQ. Flowers

Thank you mumsnet. I did not join until my children were almost grown. I do wish I had had this when they were younger.

There is so much on here and so much to engage with and so much to learn. It has been truly mind opening and inspiring. I only joined for The Archers (after the BBC shut down the message boards) but I have found help with prolapse and menopause problems, and discovered the value of critical thinking and reasoned debate, being challenged to think for myself and to learn how to put this across. Who knew?

KOKO and fighting those naysayers who would shut it down and efeminate* it Flowers FlowersFlowers

  • There appears to be no single female equivalent word of emasculate to mean the following Hmm, which appears to be a whole other thread and many academic writings.

1. trans To deprive of virility, to castrate (a male person or animal)

2.transf. and fig. To deprive of strength and vigour; to weaken, make effeminate and cowardly; to enfeeble, impoverish (language)

b. esp. To take the force out of (literary compositions) by removing what is supposed to be indecorous or offensive.

For giving me a safe space to run to after the insanity and abuse on my twitter feed and Facebook threatens to overwhelm me.

I am not a woman.

I am Truscum (at least until a sufficient word can be found that differentiates me from the ‘Nu-trans’ bigots)

I do not want to be a meat shied for misogynistic men to use as they attempt to continue to batter and push women down.

I am Spartacus!
