I'm surprised and pleased. I thought Glinner was more of a lefty dude bro.

This is fab.

Five tweets down from the main tweet already some dick parroting the mantra like a Darlek.

"Alan" concludes he can't answer. Quelle surprise.

A good mix of positive + negative reactions.

I’m so flippin happy to see him “come out”. I’m a long time fan of his work. Also, men with an audience speaking out is vital. Women’s voices are dismissed too easily, unfortunately.

SolaceOfYou · 07/03/2018 22:07

"Progressive left" is a fantastic peice of doublespeak isn't it? Shut down debate, expel anyone who doesn't agree with the party line, decry anyone with an complex, nuanced opinion as being an enemy of the people. It's just old-fashioned, misogynistic socialism by a different name. The WEP are a great disappointment, how did they become apologists for the brocialists?

Agerbilatemycardigan · 08/03/2018 05:17

Even he's finally peak transed. He's been quite vocal lately, despite admitting that he wasn't going to get involved.

I've got several men on my Twitter feed that think the same way. They often get told by TRA handmaidens that they're just agreeing with us to score brownie points.

Ah, the perfect irony...

SeaWitchly · 08/03/2018 07:21

I went down the rabbit hole reading that thread and then linking up with others... I absolutely despair at the numbers of 20 odd year old TRA female handmaidens parroting the 'transwomen ARE women' line and asserting that gender is a biological construct whilst sex is a social construct and as such tranwomen have been somehow born as women [gender] trapped in a male body [biological] but that the biological body is irrelevant because their sex was 'designated' at birth incorrectly and what is actually correct is how they feel in their mind... because they have always known they are female [as they quite like butterflies, the colour pink and struggle with parallel parking].

I am very grateful for the brave men who are coming out in the radfem corner and refusing to back down in the face of this Orwellian nonsense. Not like that barrister Jolyon Maugham who came out fighting and two minutes later decided he couldn't face the onslaught of hate from the TRAs and issued a grovelling apology Hmm

sportinguista · 08/03/2018 07:22

Ever heard of a term called the 'regressive left'? It's actually closer to what is going on. We are moving backwards on women's rights and opportunity for inclusion in the name of so called 'progression' which is actually ending up as regression.

I read with interest that twitter feed as the most violent/insultative tweets were from the TRA side and it shows.

I've known some of the 'old fashioned' transsexuals and none of my experience equates with what is now called transgender. It all seems to have changed beyond recognition. To be honest I have no experience of TRA or MRA beyond what I've seen on social media but it seems to have gained ground very quickly and in a way that doesn't seem to equate with the issues facing transsexual people over the past years.

I'm quite grateful that we home ed so I don't have to deal with this in an educational setting.

KnitFastDieWarm · 08/03/2018 11:06

Long time admirer of his work, so glad to see him stick his head above the parapet

ArcheryAnnie · 08/03/2018 11:43

I'm surprised and pleased, too. His track record with feminists isn't great, but I am all for people being willing to change their minds (I have, I know that) so I am delighted he's come out like this.

GrainneWail · 08/03/2018 16:20

Exactly my thinking, Annie.

I remember hearing some American political pundit years ago ranting about a candidate changing their opinion on something (I can't remember what), but i remember wondering how learning and thinking about an issue was such a bad thing. Glad I'm not the only one it happens to.

I mentioned this a couple of days ago.

Although he was badgered this week, I hope that the next man out of the box is Richard Herring. Come on Richard. For fucks sake - everyone knows men are not women!

I already found Robin Ince in January.

TERFragetteCity couldn't that statement go either way, though?

TERFragetteCity couldn't that statement go either way, though?

It was if I remember correctly, in relation to L Madigan's comments about being the same as Rosa Parks...because someone called them a him.

ArcheryAnnie · 09/03/2018 13:16

Ah! That's more hopeful.
