Really good so far about the left not standing up for women.

Can't get the link to work but it's on iPlayer.

At least 1 of the people interviewed in that was/is in the Labour Against Transphobia Facebook group, so I reserve the right to go ‘harrumph’

Thanks for pointing this out - just finished listening!

Cohen said at the end that people in his circle reported not wanting to get involved because it would put them in the same camp as the far right. He dismissed it, blaming fear and dumb orientalism, but I didn't understand why exactly. I think people DO look at who's on their side.

On the other hand, if I had a quid for every time someone mentions "the Muslim community"... I do agree with him that it suits people to think of, and indeed treat, Muslims as a bloc, and that that approach needs an urgent challenge.

I agree, damn. I think that people do look at who is on their side. It's wise to do that, to guard against extremism. Being aligned to a non-extremist but otherwise 'wrong' cohort will cause people to hesitate before speaking out.

Didn't know that lifelong. Disappointing. But I still think the programme was good for providing context. Women are being thrown under the bus by the left in many different ways.
