"One of the successors to the trustees who resigned, Heathcliffe Bowen, was five weeks ago convicted of multiple child sex offences, including making and possessing indecent images of children, attempting to meet a child after sexual grooming, attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity and distributing indecent images of children.
Describing Bowen as a “predatory paedophile”, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC jailed him for five years. All the offences occurred while he was involved with the charity, although Mesmac said it was “confident” that none of his victims was a client and added that Bowen had no “direct role” with clients.
Bowen was also administrator of Bradford council’s “safeguarding children board”, which is charged with protecting young people from sexual exploitation. The Sunday Times has learnt that he was sacked by the council in 2014, more than two years before he was charged, after engaging in suspicious activity involving youngsters on Facebook."
This is the classic type of behaviour we see again and again with paedophiles getting into positions like this.
I think the council needs to elaborate on what evidence there was, why the police were not involved, what happened abotu his reference etc. He was obviously able to get into further roles of a similar nature .
