.... am I right in thinking that these are still recorded statistically as being committed by men (unless have GRC) but reported in newspapers as being committed by women complete with "her" pronoun - typically with photo showing they clearly are a man!

Having been someone who thinks Transwomen are men but have been happy to refer to them as she/her...... I am beginning to realise the impact this has in the media and that it is not as benign as I thought.... Hmmm

Yes. This sort of thing (and sports etc) are why a lot of women here are increasingly angry about the self-ID laws, and in turn the very concept of being able to "turn into a woman".

When you start thinking that one through logically (and not from a place of just kind acceptance and live-and-let-live), it doesn't make a lot of sense.

They are recorded as committed by women.

And have been for years
Self ID has been slipping under the radar for years

I know because I have requested this information directly from a couple of police forces

I also know that when the office of national statistics compile this data they were unaware that it's all self declared id for trans.

Incidentally, this is one of many reasons why we should oppose any attempt to broaden the definition of rape beyond its current definition of "penetration by a penis". At the moment, barring a tiny, tiny number of women prosecuted under "common purpose" or "conspiracy", anyone found guilty of rape in the UK has a penis. This is going to become the one set of stats we can actually rely on.
