Listening

CrumpetsReconsidered · 02/03/2018 10:10

I was listening - I thought- but failed to hear any real discussion. Did I tune in too late?

shetheyhim · 02/03/2018 10:12

Err.. was that it? Tara (obviously a trans woman although that wasn’t obvious until they started speaking about being a woman themselves - will go and google) gets the airtime and interview and no one else? On a subject that affects women ie. being called a TERF. At least the presenter indicated that he believes the lived experience of a trans woman is not the same as being a woman.

CrumpetsReconsidered · 02/03/2018 10:21

Ah, ok. No point in going back to have a fuller listen then. I wonder if Tara was the only one to phone or message and engage? I would like to but by the time I overcome reserve and gather my thoughts the moment is gone.
I am very grateful to all the discussion, thought and effort of MN posters on feminism threads who are helping to provide a considered approach to this issue. I am starting to feel more confident in discussing this with friends now and online.

Oh that person đŸ˜¶

shetheyhim · 02/03/2018 10:29

Trans Tory NHS diversity adviser, Pro-Lifer and opposed IVF therefore assisting lesbians to have babies.

QueenLaBeefah · 02/03/2018 11:20

Very easy for someone who has never had a uterus to spraff off about being pro-life.

GenderApostate · 02/03/2018 11:39

That’s the one who bragged about getting CAHMS/Social Services involved with ‘unsupportive’ families of Trans kids, isn’t it? Angry

LizzieSiddal · 02/03/2018 12:36

At least the presenter indicated that he believes the lived experience of a trans woman is not the same as being a woman.

That’s good to hear. Poor Jenni Murray got a written warning from her boss, for having the temerity to say the same thing.
