(ii) Bindel's diatribe about white-man-van camps

each of which I agree is neither big nor clever, is not even the tiniest drop in the ocean compared to however many murders and rapes it is every year, every shitty workplace comment, every catcall, every arsehole 'husband' who treats his wife like an unpaid skiv etc etc etc?

On the presumption that you do agree - and I can't conceive how you could in good faith think otherwise - why are you on this board giving women shit about perceived 'misandry'?

I don't think he's goading, Quentin, I think he genuinely can't see it. There is hope for him. The best thing he could do is duck out of this thread and go away and have a good think. If after due consideration his persecution complex remains, then that is what it is

Actually, the mug thing is quite funny. And Bindel's comments were not a "diatribe". But apart from that I agree absolutely.

I’m impressed how little Prat has got away with changing his bag of tricks (RAINN, Tumblr feminism, even mentioning Big Red) since the last time I saw him grace us with his presence, while pretending he’s just responding to the topic of the OP. You’d think he’d have actually read something or educated himself after we all found him utterly unconvincing last time.

Larry is hilarious, and a perfect example of the type of man who polices women's speech in feminist spaces. Men commit the majority of violent crime, you say? And crime in general? And even in one of the cases where he claimed that women commit a crime more often than men (fraud) he was wrong?

But shoplifting! Which can lead to an increase in prices! Which has a disproportionate impact on the poor!

Meanwhile, poor women have to deal with increased prices AND a higher risk of sexual violence, 98% of which will be committed by men. But sure, some of them may once have stolen a packet of biscuits from Tesco's, so clearly both sexes are equally responsible.

I really haven't seen any misandry on here. I've seen anger towards violent men and the men trying to take over womens' spaces, and against men who don't do their fair share of the housework or childcare, but generalised misandry? Hatred of men as a class regardless of their behaviour? Never seen it.

The point is...this is a thread about misandry and there's a fair amount of it about. Why are 'male tears' mugs ok but then feminists go apeshit when a geeky scientist goes on tv wearing a t shirt with a scantily clad cartoon woman on it and try and her the guy fired?

People responded to the shirt that scientist wore. People. There was no campaign, no organised feminist response. There was a campaign to fund raise for him, it raised $24,000 and he apologised for his poor decision and kept his job. What massive harm those people's responses to his shirt choices did.
