This saddens me. Is there any mental health support for pupils feeling like this aside from labelling pupils as transgender? Are schools going to be so worried that they don’t come across as supporting those that say they are transgender that they will ignore science?

When did this happen? When did sex and gender become so misunderstood that even in places of education, facts are being ignored?

There is very little mental health support available in schools. There is a massive mental health crisis among young people and no budget in NHS or schools to provide even basics like learning mentor or school nurse drop in sessions.

I think this is going to cause a massive issue a few years down the line with pupils not being supported.

Aside from the mental health impact, boys will surely be able to compete against girls in sport and have access to their changing rooms.

I’m disappointed that the facts are ignored in favour of being seen as inclusive of trans rights.

Children have a great deal to cope with these days. There is bound to be a huge range of mental health issues going on. There seems to be little money and little understanding of these.

In the school I work in our trans students are female to male. We have a number of stand alone toilets around the school which can be used by anyone as they use these. I don’t know what happens in PE.

I genuinely believe that for at least one of these student what they are doing is a positive for them (they are nolonger sucidical) but teenagers have a trendency to follow trends and jump on the bandwagon.

Some of them will be suicidal further down the line when they realise what they've been encouraged to do to themselves.

As for transition stopping someone feeling suicidal - transition provides novelty, a sense of purpose, and a great deal of positive attention.

I really don’t think I know any answers on this subject and I am merely reporting g my observation.

I have very big concerns that children think they are of the opposite gender simply because they like to do activities traditional related to opposite gender or they attracted to the same sex as themselves.

Makingworkwork - that’s my fear that there will be nothing to help pupils consider that.
