I am ashamed to say that as a woman I haven't engaged enough with current issues that are affecting women, mainly the trans debate.

Personally I feel torn between wanting to support anyone who feels uncomfortable in their body, but at the same time I slightly struggle to see how a man becoming a woman can truly understand what it is like to be a woman.

I would really like to learn more so are there any particular articles or sources that I can read?

Hello. My two favourite resources are:

SAGES factsheet for legal context

Helen Saxby article for social context.

Thank you, I was a bit nervous to ask as I feel I should know all this already!

Miranda Yardley has a blog which might be a good starting point.
They are a gender critical transwoman.

Check out Magdalen Berns on YouTube.

FWIW once you become aware that the "born in the wrong body" narrative is a crock of bs for the most part, and what we are dealing with are men demanding womanhood for themselves for a great variety of reasons apart from gender dysphoria, it helps you see things more clearly.

The transgender trend pack for schools is worth a read. Remember that medically transitioning gay and non gender conforming children leaves them sterile.

@Patodp thank you for the links.

I guess I just don't know if it is a crock of bs on the whole.

My very simplistic point of view is that I think everybody should be happy in their body. However I have a problem with trans people speaking on behalf of women

I think most people here are perfectly happy to let adults make whatever choices they want, providing they don't harm others.

And that's the problem. Transitioning children sterilises them. That is harmful.
Men and women need their own sex segregated spaces and services. Women are still treated differently and less favourably based on their biology, trans ideology does not address or alter that, it erases women as a class.
Women's sports are finished. That's already happened.
