I thought some of you would be interested in this speech that a woman tried to give at my local constituency Labour Party meeting. It's a good summary of the issues regarding trans women on all-women shortlists.

Thats a very frightening post. To be shouted down for asking for a discussion on basic biology.

Corbyn said this could be debated, but he wasnt telling the truth.

Ereshkigal · 22/02/2018 13:51

It's a really good speech. Can you say why she was prevented from making it? Was it a technicality about her right to speak as she says a man raised?

Melamin · 22/02/2018 13:54

So presumably it was passed with a truncated half a speech in opposition? Democracy in action Hmm

Who was the very known feminist?

NotTerfNorCis · 22/02/2018 13:56

It's not democracy if people are voting on something nobody is allowed to discuss.

Martyngibson · 22/02/2018 13:56

Scary times for the Labour Party members with this kind of crap going on.

LittleLebowski · 22/02/2018 14:01

How crap. This is why I have no faith in the Labour Party on this matter. The Translobby is obviously too firmly entrenched and it will be very difficult for members like Jennifer Jones to achieve much, though it could boost her crowdfunding.

PilarTernera · 22/02/2018 14:21

Yes Ereshkigal it was a technicality.

I presume the man who interrupted her would not have done that if he liked what she was saying Hmm

No I'm sure he wouldn't have, Pilar.
