Transgender on 'take me out'

I was watching 'take me out'(I know, I am ashamed) and wondered what the reaction would be if one of the girls was actually secretly a TIM (with penis) and the boy choose him and discovered that he was actually a man on their date. Would it be a hate crime if he was a bit er, peeved? And what that says about the reality of the whole trans thing. Would people think he'd been 'tricked' or would he (date picker) be expected to be cool with it? Maybe it's already happened- I don't watch the show often!

I see it as borderline ... I don't know, abusive? Is that too strong a word? To knowingly deceive somebody whose sexual orientation is the opposite of what you can offer them - it's such an awful thing to do! By not opening the dialogue box on the fact you are trans from the word go, you are immediately taking away a persons choice - their right to decide IF they want to date somebody who may be the same sex as them.

I am very much 'for' people dating/seeing/loving whomever they want. I genuinely don't give a fig. But as a straight woman, would I be okay with the fact the guy I was seeing and had come to really like was actually a woman? No! I am not, nor have I ever been, a lesbian. I would not only feel utterly deceived, but horrified at having that choice ripped away from me.

That opens the floodgates to consent in my eyes. Would I consent to date and share light intimacies with a man? Yes. Would I consent if I knew they were actually a woman? No. I'm heterosexual, and that is not up for debate or open to compromise. It's not something I can change to fit the selfish whims of a dishonest person.

I don't know any straight men who would be comfortable in this position, and it's a position I fully understand.

I hope the other person knew beforehand.

"Jesus Christ, is there no end to the hypothetical crap people will start a post about to rile up anti-trans sentiment on here."

Um, it's not hypothetical. This happens. Maybe not on a specific TV show, but in real life/ Why are you so ignorant?

From the other side there was a great thread on a twitter where a man was vociferous in his belief that transwomen were women and that anyone who said otherwise was a bigot.

And at the end.of the thread (I think because someone asked) added, "except when it comes to relationships" or something.

It is actually a really interesting question, if a TIF or a TIM actually is their chosen sex, then why the need to tell.anyone anything?
