Seperate trans officer role for labour

London young labour have passed a motion for the creation of a seperate trans officer role as well as continuing to support self iding women for all female shortlists

• so more jobs for men then!!

I'm sure you would do a great job. Your first task would be to tell transwomen how it feels to be trans and then accuse them of transphobia if they protest.

Remember folks that the CLP where LM got elected as Women's Officer already had an LGBT officer post (for which he did not stand)

Something I pondered on another thread was who is allowed to vote in the elections for this post. AFAIK only women are able to vote for the Women's Officer (self-ID, I know, I know), but what kind of "gate-keeping" does anyone do to ensure that only eligible voters get the ballot papers for the LGBT post?

There was also a proposal at the Young Labour shindig this weekend for a BAME officer - no details yet on how one proves eligibility to stand for / elect to that post....

I cannot believe that I have voted Labour all my life but now? Not again.

So if the Women’s Officer post is used solely to promote trans rights, we can use the Trans Officer post to actually get on and improve the lot of women, including recruiting women back into the party by reassuring that SOMEONE actually cares?
