Not all pussies are pink

So I was gently introducing a friend to the issue of self identification, female penises etc. Came on to the women's march and the "not all pussies are pink" tweet.

She agreed. Not all pussies are pink.
I said we're all pink on the inside.
She said no, pussy refers to vulva - hence the pussy hats being vulvas.

Now help me out here. I thought it refers to vagina. Have I got this wrong?!

She then told me that people of all other skin colours apart from white don't have pink vaginas, either.

I'm straight, white and not an HCP so never seen inside other women's vaginas! She's white with DDs from a black father. I am wondering if I've got this wrong too! And I'm so embarrassed I may have!!!!

The argument agains Pink Pussy Hats is a divisory tactic by TRAs and MRAs.

By implanting this idea that somehow white women and WOC are biologically different they can cause disagreement between women and then assert themselves as allies at the same time shutting down discussion about biology which is 'offensive' and 'hurtful'

Identity politics is a divisory tactic and it’s working like a charm.

I did read the link Upstart. But when people (women I'm assuming) were guessing about the colour of vaginas upthread, nobody who actually knew said anything. I merely assumed that if someone knew, especially because they weren't white, they'd have corrected/confirmed the guesswork. I didn't think they would have been obliged to, more that it was so blatantly guesswork that it'd have been clarified by an expert! I could have been wrong and quite possibly was. But there you go!

Sold Thanks for answering. It's a bit of a weird question and I was uncomfortable asking, but after the awkward discussion in RL, I thought an anonymous forum could help me out!
