Given how widely the net has been cast as to what constitutes someone who is trans I think it's probably impossible to know.

I read somewhere a figure of 650,000 but that may have included TIFs and non binarys.

According to Stonewall's definition, anyone who varies from the gender stereotypes identity for their sex is trans. Which is probably most of the UK population!

My link failed. More or Less is a Radio 4 programme about statistics. People hear a statistic on the news or such like and contact More or Less to investigate and give their considered opinion. I love the programme. One of the topics of discussion this week was:

How many transgender people are there in the UK?

The UK produces official statistics about all sorts of things - from economic indicators to demographic data. But it turns out there are no official figures for the number of transgender people in the UK. We explore what we do know, and what is harder to measure.

The link takes you to the episode on R4 iPlayer

I think that going by Stonewalls definition the entire population is trans?
