I am new to mums net. I have joined because I have become right royally pissed off with the ridiculous - "ladies go and sit in the corner and don't upset the men" and would like to have discussion about this.

Two reasons why it pisses me off so much

1. the nonsensical arguments involved. The lack of examination is just bizarre.
2. the way in which discourse of women's issues has been hijacked by men. for example - The rights of men to be allowed into womens prisons being more important than the those of the women - "but they're not men they're women" - see above.

someone else on here described it as "bat shit craziness" - absolutely!!

Welcome. I've been on mumsnet for very many years, but only recently found this Feminist Section. I find it very 'freeing' to be able to talk openly here without being shut down.

I joined years before finding my way to the Feminism Chat board, and like you, came to hear other women's take on WTAF is going on. There are some wonderfully coherent posters here, who put into clear concise words the vague ideas whirling round in my head.

There is nothing you can't raise here. Nothing is too small or too big to throw up for discussion. There's a range of opinions, some of which I don't share, and some which have persuaded me to change my opinion. Enjoy!
