Excellent, thanks for sharing on here.

hipsterfun · 29/01/2018 19:57

I won’t hold my breath!

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 29/01/2018 21:11

Unless he is really stupid, he won't do it.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 29/01/2018 22:17

No he won't do it.

But a website with 12 million, mainly female, mainly interested, mainly voty unique users will ask him to.

And I know he's a fucking dimwit but surely someone at LPHQ can draw him a diagram?

BlindYeo · 29/01/2018 22:35

This is a great idea. I don't think he'll do it either, but it's a great message to be sending, that Women Would Like to Talk to Him About This

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 29/01/2018 22:44

Not a cat in hells chance he’ll do it - much as I’d love him to.

officerhinrika · 29/01/2018 22:55

Some idiot will only ask him about biscuits again

ShotsFired · 30/01/2018 08:58

Surely it has to be the absolute crux of the chat? Pre-submitted questions only? A clear promise from MNHQ to pin him down on the key points and not let him off the hook? If people start pissing round with biscuit chat, then they need to fuck right off.

What self id is to him
What a woman is (as definition)
How he can justify breaking the law with his AWS policy?
How he can justify throwing women under the bus
etc etc (but phrased by the much more eloquent and pithy posters than me!)

GoodyHemlock · 30/01/2018 09:10

This. No opportunities to waffle on about biscuits etc.

Datun · 30/01/2018 09:20

I'm sure he won't do it. But the refusal would be interesting to publish.

Elementtree · 30/01/2018 09:26

If he says yes, which I agree is unlikely, then he will simply answer all the fluffy questions in tedious detail so that nothing is really answered. The only way it would work would be if everyone only asked him to 'define woman', again and again and again so that information might actually be extracted rather than just noise.

Anyone who mentions biscuits should be shot.

TheXXFiles · 30/01/2018 09:35

Yes, this!

hipsterfun · 30/01/2018 09:50

Jezza, is my custard cream a bourbon if it says it is?

[takes self outside and shoots self]

ShotsFired · 30/01/2018 13:26

It needs to be like the Paxman/Howard interview.

Popchyk · 30/01/2018 13:51

We have to ask.

Individually we have little power. But Mumsnet is a huge player in the media and politically. Why do we think Corbyn agreed to come on the last mumsnet webchat?

And if and when the Labour Party say no, then we will go straight back and ask to be involved in the consultation again. Be hugely helpful if MNHQ would help push this.

If Corbyn refuses repeatedly then we can ask who he did consult about self-identification of sex (it will be the trans lobby). This will give us the opportunity to make the point that he refused to do even a small webchat with the largest female forum in the country despite being asked repeatedly by mumsnet.

And the press will love a bit of Corbyn bashing, even if they don't care about the impact of self-ID on women either.

We have to play the long game.

And someone on the other thread suggested that we do a webchat with all the major parties on this issue. Great idea. Let's do Labour first since they are the ones actively pushing self-ID. But it shouldn't stop there.

2018username · 30/01/2018 13:55

Definitely. Our votes are up for grabs and they're not going to misogynists in favour of erasing us as a class.

If you can't debate mumsnet, we're not sending you abroad to negotiate on our behalf and that makes you unfit to lead.

Get them all here let's see what they're made of.

HumphreyCobblers · 30/01/2018 13:57

The last time we repeatedly asked an MP to define woman, I seem to remember people were stopped from posting? Apparently it was 'barracking'.

Was it the Jess Philips web chat?

dorade · 30/01/2018 14:04

Yes Humphrey it was the Jess Phillips one.

I'm rather hoping that MN Towers might have reached peak trans since then.

And to be fair to Jess, she is more terf than trans ally but has to tread a fine line.

MrsTerryPratchett · 30/01/2018 15:28

@ShotsFired yes!

Or the Diana Gould question. I'm imaging @Datun as Diana!

BarrackerBarmer · 30/01/2018 18:09

If he comes on for a webchat, I propose we don't waste our time asking questions we already know he wont answer. Besides, MNHQ will simply do what they did last time, forbid posters from asking those questions and then suspend those that do for 'barracking'.

I suggest we consider all posting the same single line objection. I bet you could get hundreds of women posting it.

HumphreyCobblers · 30/01/2018 18:10

I certainly am very grateful to MN for letting us have this conversation here. It really is the best place for feminist analysis of this subject.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 30/01/2018 19:04

In the interests of fairness should we invite all the other party leaders to do the same thing?

BlindYeo · 30/01/2018 19:54

Yes shots! I'm actually having a little fantasy now of a gender-critical Jeremy Paxman interviewing Lily Madigan...

Great quote and idea Barracker

FaithHopeCharityDesperation · 30/01/2018 20:17

He was horrendous on the election thread.

I'll be reading the trans thread with interest & may contribute but I do agree that it needs to contain a coordinated effort, targeting specifics, otherwise he'll just fanny about again as before, picking just a few benign questions & talking about fucking jam. 🙄
