Everyone’s sniggering about Reece Witherspoon’s third leg (which I don’t see btw) but all I thought when I saw the picture was look at those men, standing up straight or looking comfortable, and all the women positioned and draped like so much stage dressing. Not one of them is in a comfortable or natural position.

I know it’s trivial but - grrr Angry

Agreed, I can't really see her third leg either - and also agree, the body poses are very telling. You see this constantly in the way celebs are posed for group photos - women standing (or sitting/lying) in poses that a man would never do. In the case of the Vanity Fair shot, could you imagine Harrison Ford doing the Clare Foy pose? And if the shot is meant to highlight status and power, Oprah should be in the middle at the top.

I don't think it is trivial .

BiilyJoBaker · 27/01/2018 09:55

How can you not see the third leg?!!!

ItchySeveredFoot · 27/01/2018 09:56

I looked at the picture before I read your post and thought the exact same thing! You'd think with everything going on at the moment with regards to harassment and fair treatment of women they'd have put more thought into it.

tribpot · 27/01/2018 09:59

BillyJo I can see where the third leg sort of appears to be, but can see it's just the lining of her dress.

OwtFerNowt · 27/01/2018 11:31

I guess I said trivial to ward off the ‘it’s vanity Fair, what do you expect?’

I wonder how long these things take in planning/execution. I suppose it’s possible the whole thing was agreed and signed off a few months ago.

There is definitely something wrong with Reeces legs - look at just above where he legs cross, is that her leg or the lining of her dress? At first I thought it was the lining of her dress and so the bit underneath is also her dress, ergo no third leg. But above where her legs cross must be her left leg, otherwise both her left and right legs are coming from her right hip (as in her right) and she has no leg coming from her left hip?

Or the bit above where the legs cross is her left leg and her leg at bent at an incredibly painful angle!

Yeah, that’s kind of my point. Physically possible, but not a position you’d choose to spend any time in!

I mean could you imagine Harrison Ford sat down with hand on hip and Michael B Jordan practically sat on his lap in that position?!

Tom Hanks semi horizontal on a chair with Michael Shannon (?) laid at his feet with his head in his lap?

The women are posed as submissive sex objects.

SleepFreeZone · 27/01/2018 12:21

I like it! It’s very reminiscent of an oil in canvas.

Nuffaluff · 27/01/2018 12:22

Actually it would be quite funny to pose it with the sexes reversed.

Bluelady · 27/01/2018 12:36

Apparently Oprah's got three hands as well.
