Exactly. The black cab guy should have at least got a year per victim. And that would be lenient.

What a fantastic judge she is. And what brave women. And what a hideous world, that valued one monstrous man over a hundred women and girls.

Lettucepray · 24/01/2018 22:39

My favourite line was "I've just handed you your death sentence"....in the UK he'd have got 7 yrs with the option of a sex change........

I teared up watching the final statement before sentencing (Rachael Denhollander's). What a powerful speech. Watch from 29.50 for the really knock-out part - amazing woman.

I watched a clip of the judge and this doctor trying to address the victims. I found it really unnerving how he kept turning around to try and look at them. It smacked of trying to control them even when he appeared to be remorseful. I'm glad the judge saw through his facade.

I feel so angry for those young women and girls that he abused. I hope that the sentence gives them something to feel vindicated by.

The John Worboys case now sits in stark and dismal comparison.

AngryAttackKittens · 24/01/2018 23:58

I think this may be the first time a predator has ever gotten the kind of sentence that he actually deserves. Let's hope it's not the last time.

The enablers who disregarded dozens of reports over two decades need to, at the very least, lose their jobs. They cannot be trusted with our children.

I think the sentence was 40 - 175 years. But he's already serving 60 years for another charge of possessing thousands of images of child sexual abuse so no matter.

It is just horrible on every level. Hundreds of victims. About a dozen girls that we know about (and I'm guessing that there are more) who told coaches and authorities about it and the authorities closed ranks to cover it up and protect themselves and him. Why are we even surprised at this anymore? That's what always happens.

One victim told her parents about the abuse that started when she was six years old. Her parents didn't believe her and forced her to apologise to her abuser when she was 12. The victim's father finally believed her and subsequently committed suicide.
