There’s an epidemic of violence towards TIMs

According to Paris Lees in the Guardian

I wonder how their statistics stack up against the violence towards women? For TIMs it’s:

1 in 8 have been attacked in the last year by a colleague or customer
1 in 3 have been discriminated against at a cafe, bar or restaurant
1 in 4 have been on the receiving end of domestic violence

Paris (the Paris who enjoys catcalls ) then goes on to explain the street harassment that they have suffered at the hands of men or boys, citing how they were frightened to walk to school when they were young (newsflash, girls were too), that they’ve had rubbish thrown at them (happened to me too), being assaulted in public (#mefuckingtoo).

They then go on to state that This violence is often justified on the grounds we’re not “real” women, that we’re tricksters, sick men who deserve to be beaten and murdered as if women aren’t beaten and murdered on the grounds that they’re real fucking women!

I’ve really only recently hit peak trans but gosh this helps. What exactly did Paris think they were identifying into? This is reality for women and girls from the time we enter puberty.

Also I can't quite put my finger on it, but Paris seems to have this slight air of superiority over other trans people about them because (due to their facial surgery) they do pass pretty well as a woman. Aside from the 'yay, Vogue accepted me as a real woman because I do actually look quite like an attractive woman, I'm in the club and there is nothing you TERFs can do about it', they also write in a slightly patronising way about those who don't 'pass'. Like they are some kind of higher level trans person who can speak for both trans people AND women.

I don't know, maybe they genuinely don't mean to, but it does come across like that.

The high proportion of transgender-identifying males who have been attacked or abused because they identify as women, shows that the propoportion of transgender-identifying males who do not "pass as a woman" is also high. (If they "passed as a woman", they would not be abused for their gender identity because everyone would assume that the person was a non-transgender women).

Paris only passes in stills.

This article was written because of the righteous backlash Paris is getting due to their “being catcalled is totes the best and being used as a spitroast is the bestest ever, kids” pieces. I wonder how many of the 1 in 8 were in “sex work”? Because even then, that’s still lower than the stats for prostituted women so...

What's noticeable about all the people Lees describes assaulting and insulting him?

All men.

Not feminists, not women. Not gender-critical radical feminists.

Men.

Fighting the wrong people.

^^ This

The fact is, men have always been the natural enemies of Transwomen.

When all this dies down (and it will - eventually) and all the right on lefty brocialists have moved on to something more fashionable, they'll be alone.

They'll be alone and unsupported because a few narcissistic misogynists in bras and lipstick will have successfully alienated their once natural allies. Women.

Completely agree.

Any violence is to much but compare the 1 in 8 trans people assaulted at work with the levels for NHS workers

www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-38917156

70,000 in 2015-2016. Most have been assaulted. Speaking to HCPs in my own family, one was punched twice last year, another was threatened with scissors. And that's just the big stuff, verbal abuse and threats are routine.

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 23/01/2018 12:00

They lie about everything, and they don't care about being caught out. It's disconcerting to deal with people who place no value on the truth.

I know!!!

Ive discovered that i really struggle with the truth thing

I tend to take things at face value a bit but the outright lies that some people come out with on here!!!

Ereshkigal · 23/01/2018 13:57

These are two tweets I saw yesterday and they perfectly explain why I don't believe a single survey that asks for the responses of trans people. They. Just. Fucking. Lie.

This.

Vicxy · 24/01/2018 18:02

If anybody actually believes that 1 in 8 transgender people have been physically attacked by a work colleague or by a customer in a bar/shop/whatever where they are working, then they are stupid beyond belief.

Indeed. Its just absolute bullshit, reghurgitated all over, they are proven false again and again but still spread. Ridiculous.

Paris can fuck off.

Paris only passes in stills.

I used to think this but I think Paris may have had some facial feminization surgery or something as she was on big brothers bit on the side a few weeks back and passed on film

Vicxy · 24/01/2018 18:04

1 in 3 have been discriminated against at a cafe, bar or restaurant

Also this, is useless. What is discrimination in this context? Given some trans people (Travis) think its discrimination to ask them to use the male changing room rather than the female one..well..I expect some of the narcissists also think its discrimination for them to have to queue, rather than being served immediately like the royalty they are.

Fekko · 24/01/2018 18:07

But discrimination in this book is ‘didn’t call me Miss’, ‘gave me the bill instead of my male friend’, ‘looked at me a bit funny’, ‘called me son’, ‘didn’t hold the door open for me/punch my bum/grope my tits/make a pass/ask to go out with me/accept my offer of a date’ or ‘hey weee thinking that I wasn’t a woman’.

God it must be exhausting .
