At my local uni, thought it sounded interesting so clicked for more details only to read..

“The aim of the conference is to inspire the self-defining women and non-binary students of X University to feel confident enough to put themselves forward for leadership positions. There will be workshops, activities and discussions all set up to help the women of x university grow in confidence and develop their leadership skills amongst other likeminded women.”

What about the inspiring women? Why just self defining women?

So is it not for natal women? Just for trans and non-binary? Would you be able to email them to ask?

I was casually looking through google for references to self-defined woman and I found this little treat from Reading University.

www.rusu.co.uk/elections/rusuelection/part-timeofficers/womens/

'' RUSU defines a woman as anyone who self-defines as a woman, including (if they wish) those with complex gender identities which include ‘woman’, and those who experience oppression as women. ''

I could email and ask.

Ok, have copied their little statement and added

And now I’m confused. I’m not a self-defining woman nor am I non binary. I’m biologically female. Is the conference only for people who self define as women or is it also for women?

Will see what they say.

Watching with interest.

University are supposed to be seats of learning and intellect....disappointed to see such pervasive group think at unis in a bid to appear cool, right-on, liberal and politically correct.

No reply to my email.

They don't really want any traditional cunty style women to attend do they.

Reading who they want to come, it does not and would never have said to me "this is for you".

"The aim of the conference is to inspire the self-defining women and non-binary students of X University to feel confident enough to put themselves forward for leadership positions."

Also interesting that they seem to be 100% into empowerfulisation, identifying the reason the group they are looking at as not going into leadership positions as due to a lack of confidence rather than any external barriers. Hmmm.

Great news for them is that I think they will find the sort of women that they have asked to come along are, peculiarly, way more confident, bold, and "assertive" than the sort of people who used to come along.

I should imagine I’ve been labelled as a nasty Terf, not to be communicated with.
