Twitter

Twitter is absolutely rage inducing! I only joined to add support for GC voices but I have no idea how people manage to be on there a lot. I’ve been having a discussion with a TRA and it’s like trying to have a logical argument with a pot plant.

Anyone got any pithy comebacks to the usual arguments?

Apparently I want TW to die, I’m a literal murderer and I should fuck off. Fairly small beer as far Twitter goes but it still makes me so angry!

Yeah it's really hard at times on there to keep your cool. I really try. I try really hard with the younger "feminists" when they just very naively talk about equity. I refer them to Miranda Yardleys quote "sometimes treating everyone equally is the most unfair thing you can do" and talk about the safe spaces and services argument. I want them to wake up.

With TA's once you've been round the houses on biology I sometimes have to resort to "look if they dig up your bones in 100 years DNA would should you are a man" what grates me the most with them is the cotton ceiling crap.

The virtue signalling men are just plain old misogynistic asshats.

I had to take an extended break from GC Twitter because it was all becoming overwhelming. It was stressful, difficult, and the constant threats of violence led me to concerns about doxxing (I was only a Twitter small fry, I'm sure that nothing would actually happen, but there's enough agressive men becoming dangerously invested in gender politics that I did worry). I'm tempted to get back into it now that the challenge on labour shortlist is going ahead, but eurgh...the transactivists are hard to deal with. It's draining to extend your energy on people like that. Do what you can, but don't feel bad if you need to step back sometimes. We're only human.

I recently deleted my Twitter account as it was bad for my mental health, the sheer toxicity and nastiness of transactivists and their idiot handmaidens just became too much. I decided to focus on writing to political figures instead rather than wasting my time on the large number of bottom feeders on Twitter and feel better for it!

Badgerthebodger · 14/01/2018 09:57

I am definitely not going near it today after wasting my time last night disagreeing with an ignorant eejit TA. It’s frustrating because there are so many of them, and people like Eve Livingston all faux concern and sadness that the mean feminists are campaigning and fund raising. It makes me want to go round with a wet fish and deliver a good satisfying herring to the face while I shout things like “Women don’t have dicks!” Grin

My advice would be to not bother with Twitter!
I think the simplest argument is that we were all born as a result of a sperm producing man and an ‘egg’ producing woman. Each of us (even intersex and infertile people) are born belonging to one of these 2 groups. Belonging to the egg producing group brings discrimination that needs addressing. Being gender non conforming also involves discrimination that needs addressing. Let’s address both but not conflate the different challenges that each brings.

I tend to take the piss out of them. There really is no debating with them, it's all bait and switch, whataboutery, then finally when they know they have no logic or science to back up their BS arguments, it's all - you're just a mean terf and why do you hate trans folks?

Don't try to debate them as such but instead try to RT articles so as to inform as many people as possible. Don't just RT your followers, also add in @names of people who have large numbers of followers, so they might see it too. Go looking for interesting/funny tweets too. Build up bookmarks of articles, and use them to back up your points.

Try to build up your followers too.

Badgerthebodger · 14/01/2018 10:34

I do lots of RTs Assigned that’s my main purpose on there, I don’t think it’s a platform I would ever choose to use so I’m mainly just adding my support to more articulate people than me Smile

They hate women.

busyboysmum · 14/01/2018 23:12

I don't have any problems with TAs as as soon as I joined I got put on a list called "Cunts and Terfs" and blocked by most of them 😂🤣

So I can chat away with MPs etc and I don't think the TAs can see what I'm saying.

You're actually aiming for some of the people reading your tweets. Take a neutral view of the person who is arguing with you. They may be genuine or they may be arguing in bad faith.
Remember, its the people reading the tweets that matter. They can see a chain of tweets and if it looks like an MRA/TRA being a dick and a rational person, they can see that.
MRA's dont realise, but they easily put off as many men as they convert.
