Gender Recognition Act consultation England

Last July a consultation on the 2004 Gender Recognition Act was announced, due Autumn 2017. I can find the Scottish one (and completed) but can see no mention of one for England.

Wise mumsnetters, does anyone know what is happening with it?

Apologies if I've missed a thread on this.

There has been no official word but the consultation appears to have been postponed:

Justine Greening, the education secretary, said in July that the government would consult in the autumn on the controversial changes to the Gender Recognition Act. But the consultation has been delayed until at least early next year amid claims that Greening is getting cold feet. According to one source, she has privately admitted the issue is both “complex” and “divisive”.

Rumour has it they are waiting to see what happens with the Scottish consultation before they make any further moves so please do respond to that if you haven't yet done so. It's open to everyone not just people in Scotland.

Also, Justine Greening has been replaced by Amber Rudd now so who knows what will happen.

Thank you, that's very interesting. I have completed the questionnaire and agree it is important that as many people do as possible.

There was a thread about the Scottish consultation a few days ago here. Must find and bump it.
