Charities supporting women

Never posted before in feminism so please be kind!

I'm having a rather rubbish time of things but have recognised that there are many people in the world having a much worse time of it and a disproportionate amount of those are probably women.

To give myself a bit of a symbolic kick up the arse I'd like to start supporting a charity with a particular emphasis on supporting women and girls, either here or abroad.

Does anyone have any suggestions? At the moment I can support via money rather than time but my work is in education so perhaps I could look at doing something with that in the future.

TIA

Our Bodies, Ourselves is a group for women worldwide, they produce a women's health manual in as many different languages as possible. I dont know if you have read the book but you can get it on ebay.

And the last idea is to donate sanitary products to local food banks.
Hopefully you can find something that interests you.

You're welcome Smile
Also I forgot, if you sell on Ebay you can donate a percentage to your favourite charity and Refuge is one of them.

sos children's villages are an excellent charity to sponsor a child through, and you can ask to sponsor a girl

Whereabouts do you live? How about supporting your local women’s centre or local refuge? Different areas might have soffeeent names but you should be able to find your nearest by googling your nearest town or your county plus “women’s centre”.
