I wrote to my MP about the GRA and got a reply. He is a Tory in a rural safe seat and he’s been disgusting on social issues before (consistently votes against civil partnerships etc). The reply was written by an assistant.

Dear Moook

Thank you for your email to Mr Crummy MP. We will pass your comments onto him in case the Bill comes back to the House of Commons at some point. At present, it is unlikely to become law as the Bill is not supported by the Government.

Yours sincerely

Assistant

Is that breaking news or a mistake by the assistant? I suspect the latter!

Oh please let it be true! After my disappointment today. It's the hope that kills you.

Mooook · 20/12/2017 22:05

I think that just means it’s a private members bill, doesn’t it.

They are referring to Maria Miller’s Bill = shelved (gender identity, not gender assignment, as a protected characteristic).

Not the GRA, which is under full consultation.
