Masculine/Feminine test

This 'test' is circulating on my social media. I think the introduction tries to work very hard to justify the test's relevance, and there are many ways that the whole premise can be examined. For a start, I think it is easy to predict which traits they consider to be masculine and which are feminine, so it would be very easy to answer according to an image you wish to project. Perhaps it would be more revealing if a friend answered for you?

I wonder how MNers tend to do? I (heterosexual woman) scored 61% masculine and 25% feminine.

OP posts:
MrsDilber · 20/12/2017 03:08

61% feminine
61% masculine

Makes me 122% human

pallisers · 20/12/2017 03:56

I'm with you all the way MaryZ Stupid test.

I am in some ways a conventionally "feminine" woman. I am pretty, love to cook and feed people, and can navigate the boring shit of men's egos quite well. I am also highly competitive, ambitious, argumentative, extrovert, eager to speak in public etc.

I scored 72 percent masculine in that stupid test and I would like to say that every single thing they scored as masculine was actually just me being me - all me, completely female. I know many females, including my two daughters who would score highly "masculine" on this test. Maybe they need to think about their stupid definitions of masculinity.

This makes you Casually Masculine

61% masculine
47% Feminine
108% ?

LinoleumBlownapart · 20/12/2017 09:34

75% masculine and 67% feminine. I'm a heterosexual woman, a feminine one too, so this test can fuck off with it's "This makes you Undifferentiated-Androgynous". Being feminine is about appearances and material likes not about lacking individuality and not yielding to others. Have we gone that far backwards in the 21st century? How sad!

MrGHardy · 20/12/2017 15:04

58% masculine and 47% feminine.

Undifferentiated-Androgynous - really?

Questions seem like something someone bored put together, full of stereotyping. E.g. what will you score for if you put forceful or competitive...

TheFallenMadonna · 20/12/2017 15:12

I came out casually masculine and my DD came out very high masculine. We reckon that's about right, in terms of gender stereotypes. But test, obviously, completely pointless...

TheFallenMadonna · 20/12/2017 15:14

Isn't it always going to be about stereotypes, if it's gender? Confused

BatShite · 20/12/2017 15:50

Your scores:
Masculine: Average (42)
Feminine: Very Low (11)
This makes you Casually Masculine

Anlaf · 20/12/2017 22:56

I quite like these things, BECAUSE I AM THE BIGGEST MAN OF ALL

Your personality is:
86% Masculine
36% Feminine

Your scores:
Masculine: Very High
Feminine: Average
This makes you a gigantic manly man

I've always been wary of admitting to femininity, emotions and the like, as I suspected (rightly) some people would perceive it as weakness.

This test isn't as annoying as the slightly broken "are you trans" test which I tried from a thread on here. That test said everyone on that thread was trans, IIRC.

PricklyBall · 20/12/2017 23:02

Was that the test we all took where the defining question for being counted as a woman (rather than trans, trans-in-the-closet, transer-than-a-trans-thing) was to answer "strongly agree" to "I get turned on by the idea of doing the housework while dressed in a French maid's outfit"?

Anlaf · 20/12/2017 23:22

Quite possibly

I could not find it but found this one

transsexual.org/cogiati/index.php?lang=en

E.g.
You are spending time with a group of married friends. Two of them are secretly having an affair. Would you detect this easily?
Woman: like a sniffer dog for infedelity

And Grin Somewhere, a bell rings softly. You have to point to the exact location instantly. How well can you do this?

These tests are just bloody nonsensical stereotypes of nonsense.

SparkleFizz · 21/12/2017 08:26

Somewhere, a bell rings softly. You have to point to the exact location instantly. How well can you do this?

What? Confused Confused Confused

Is gender supposed to be related to how good someone’s hearing is now?

AlabamaShakes · 21/12/2017 08:56

What a stupid test.

I scored 50% masc, 50% fem.

So if I'm compassionate I'm more feminine?
No - I come from a poor background, a mixed race family and I work in healthcare. My experiences have made me more compassionate.

Assertive?
Again, my experiences have made me more assertive because I'm female and I've had to fight my corner in many situations. Family, work and being a single parent (a few years back) being assertive doesn't make me masculine.

Forceful?
No, I'm not. Does that make me feminine?
Or maybe I'm just not an arsehole who forces people to accept my view and forces them to behave a certain way. That is the behaviour of a bully (TRA's take note)

TheFallenMadonna · 21/12/2017 09:39

It's gender. It's all about stereotyping. Coming out masculine doesn't make me or my daughter any less female. Or indeed less heterosexual. It's about perception of what men and women are typically like. The reason why it's pointless is simply that it is laughably easy to see where it's going with each question. Not that it's calling women masculine.

ALittleBitOfButter · 21/12/2017 14:54

Ooh i feel smug. Mine added up to 100%!

69% masc and 31% feminine. Het woman/mother/Sahm.

Load of rubbish.

CassiniDivision · 21/12/2017 15:02

Undifferentiated: androgynous. 67% feminine and 67% masculine. Personally? I don't feel I have a gender. I just know that I am a woman.

Polly99 · 21/12/2017 18:23

78% masculine, 28% feminine.
It may just be my ladybrain playing tricks but isn’t that 106%?

FattyCat · 23/12/2017 19:46

56% masculine, 17% Feminine
Average masculine, feminine very low

What a complete load of socially constructed gendered balls sweat.

nocoolnamesleft · 29/12/2017 04:48

Oh dear. I'm apparently 83% masculine and 47% feminine. Allegedly making me casually male.

Pile of bollocks. Definitely a woman, thanks.

HemlockSpartacus · 29/12/2017 09:45

50% masculine, 17% feminine. I'm assuming because I didn't agree that I was "yielding" etc.

Dreamingdreams · 01/01/2018 13:27

I'm apparently "typically feminine", with 69% feminine and 11% masculine. Lol. Talk about stereotyping!!!! Are you kind, do you like children, are you loyal?, etc, as if a man can't be those things???

BossyBitch · 01/01/2018 13:45

64% masculine, 19% feminine, in other words: blank a big fat hairy bloke and totally not quite 100% of a human, i.e. sub-human.

Just fuck off! I'm a woman, always have been, always will be. Nothing about the fact that I've got opinions and have had to learn how to hold my own in argument changes that!

SapphireSeptember · 01/01/2018 20:30

The first stupid test has me as 'casually masculine'. I got 58% masculine and 31% feminine. (Is this because I wear combat boots with my dresses?)

The second test I got 97 for masculinity and 98 for femininity, which means I'm 'undifferentiated', whatever the hell that means.

I'm a heterosexual woman.

irretating · 01/01/2018 21:14

Casually masculine at 61% masculine and 47% feminine.

The people who made the quiz said they drew on the work of Dr Sandra Lipsitz Bem. I'd not heard of her so looked her up.

www.bustle.com/articles/131801-i-took-the-bem-sex-role-inventory-test-from-1974-this-is-what-happened

This article describes a bit more about the background of the original test which wasn't to assess how masculine and feminine we are, but to show how much we identify with cultural gender stereotypes.
