Masculine/Feminine test

This 'test' is circulating on my social media. I think the introduction tries to work very hard to justify the test's relevance, and there are many ways that the whole premise can be examined. For a start, I think it is easy to predict which traits they consider to be masculine and which are feminine, so it would be very easy to answer according to an image you wish to project. Perhaps it would be more revealing if a friend answered for you?

I wonder how MNers tend to do? I (heterosexual woman) scored 61% masculine and 25% feminine.

OP posts:
HermioneAndTheSniffle · 19/12/2017 19:50

Im78% masculine and 56% feminine Confused
Which makes me casually masculine.
Some if the questions were leading (e.g. About children or being assertive or competitive). Others left me Hmm as to how it could be related to any gender...,

Pollaidh · 19/12/2017 19:52

86% masculine 22% feminine
this makes me...

Have spent my entire life/career in a stereotypically male work environment, with male friends. I'm also now a writer. And apparently write male characters very well. Maybe this is why.

WTAFisthisshit · 19/12/2017 19:57

58% masculine 56% feminine

Very stereotypically female, though I don't shut up or back down, which could be where I'm failing.

What is with the maths? Has that been changed in this brave new world along with biology and history?

isthistoonosy · 19/12/2017 19:59

I'm 81% male and 3% female (and presumably 16% robot), so I am (drum roll) extremely masculine.

I first did one of these tests about 20 yrs ago in a sociology lesson and then had to endure a 1 hr conversation on why I scored masculine and the boy in the class scored female. Most boring and pointless lesson ever!

I'm going to try answering for my OH and see how he does.

NotSupposedtobeHere · 19/12/2017 20:02

Woo hoo! I’m “casually masculine “ as I score 75% masculine and 61% feminine.

Do you think I’ll get the 15% pay rise?

But seriously, a behavioural psychologist mate of mine (PhD and a professor and all that) got me doing these tests years ago - I mean 20 years ago. I came out androgynous then he said it was standard that as we got older we all veered towards the middle between masculine and feminine.

Just goes to show we’re all human at some point.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 19/12/2017 20:02

42% masculine 47% feminine.
Undifferentiated.
A lot of that stuff is learned behaviour though. I actually remember learning some of them from my mum!

isthistoonosy · 19/12/2017 20:03

OH is 61% masculine, 25% female (by my answers) but he is way way more typically masculine in out household so maybe one of us is faking it to fit into the expected gender role!?

Notamorningperson84 · 19/12/2017 20:07

50% masculine 36% feminine.

Heterosexual woman here.

This gender stereotyping bollocks gives me the rage.

gandalfspants · 19/12/2017 20:11

61% masculine 8% feminine.

Strongly masculine apparently. Could have guessed really.

(I'm a straight woman, married to a straight man)

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 19/12/2017 20:12

High percentage of masculine, yet I continue to be a woman. What a bloody world we live in. I am astonished every day at the blatant sexism and the reduction of my sex to a harmful stereotype. Seriously, I am so fucked of right now. It's never going to end is it?

PaintingByNumbers · 19/12/2017 20:13

85% masculine

Another hetero woman, terf

Icantreachthepretzels · 19/12/2017 20:16

56% masculine 33% feminine and presumably 11% defies all categorisation. This makes me casually masculine. Except I'm not at all 'masculine'.
. I mean what the fuck has tendency towards jealousy have to do with anything, or having analytical skills?
I'm pretty sure being prone to jealousy makes you feminine because as we all know women are catty bitches. Meanwhile being analytical is masculine because all men love to science. Their beautifully balanced testicles gives them the inherent ability to objectively weigh data and come to the correct conclusion. Ladybrain is only capable of being jealous of this great ability (because perfectly balanced ovaries and perfectly balanced breasts actually cancel each other out and create a tear in the time/space/logic continuum. we just can't handle the data!)

You know the test is going to be meaningless when the very premise of the questions is complete and utter unscientific, meaningless bullshit.

ftw · 19/12/2017 20:25

I only got to Q2 before I got bored and annoyed. Which makes me masculine. Or feminine. Or perhaps neither.

Popchyk · 19/12/2017 20:30

Undifferentiated androgenous. 61% masculine, 53% feminine.

Stereotypical bollocks of course.

Yielding? Avoids cursing? Moody? Soothing?

I am going to take a wild stab that the author has decided to define those as feminine traits.

I'll bet good money that Strong Personality, Dominant, Ambitious and Analytical are defined as masculine traits.

TimbuktuTimbuktu · 19/12/2017 20:33

Casually masculine.

Still bleeding out of my vagina though so meh.

MentholBreeze · 19/12/2017 20:37

Snap Timbuktu.

It sucked though - 'likes children'? Well, my own are awesome, other kids, it rather depends on the kids.

Shy? Introverted? Well, yes, but I push through it these days - so do you want to know how I act at work/at school functions, or how I feel?

Both assertive and yielding? Well, yes, because if I don't care, then someone else can choose, but if I do care then I'm going to fight my corner and get it my way.

Kimlek · 19/12/2017 20:39

Of course it’s meaningless bs but I still did the test! 🙄 Is that because of my ladybrain?

DeltaG · 19/12/2017 20:39

Ha! Apparently I am 83% masculine and 0% feminine! I am a scientist and have always worked in very 'male' environments. However, I am a heterosexual woman who is also interested in make-up, fashion, crafts, knitting and baking, amongst many other things.

Just shows you how gender is absolute bollocks.

Masculine/Feminine test
MentholBreeze · 19/12/2017 20:39

Moody? I am going to take a wild stab that the author has decided to define those as feminine traits.

Interesting - I'd assumed Moody was masculine - the moodiest people I know are men. DP and DS1 are awful for it.

EsmesRedPetticoat · 19/12/2017 20:40

51% masculine 67% casually feminine. I’m a heterosexual woman for the record.
It didn’t even ask if I liked dresses and make-up and everyone knows that’s what makes a woman right?

catgirl1976 · 19/12/2017 20:44

I'm casually masculine 67 percent male 53 percent female

Agree it seems bollocks. When I'm being ambitious and confident or whatever other traits they've decided are 'male' I'm still female.

JaneJeffer · 19/12/2017 20:47

Casually feminine

whoputthecatout · 19/12/2017 21:18

61%% masculine 39% feminine and casually masculine

I'm a heterosexual mum.

Good job a lot of us didn't do the test age 7 or Mermaids would be rushing around offering us testosterone......

raisinsarenottheonlyfruit · 19/12/2017 21:22

64% masculine
42% feminine

"Casually masculine"

I'm female. Or at least I think I am. Maybe I was a man all along and never realised! Hmm

jedenfalls · 19/12/2017 21:33

92% male, 6%female

Very high masculine

Straight, though androgynous female in a male dominated profession.

ROFL. what bollox
