Masculine/Feminine test

This 'test' is circulating on my social media. I think the introduction tries to work very hard to justify the test's relevance, and there are many ways that the whole premise can be examined. For a start, I think it is easy to predict which traits they consider to be masculine and which are feminine, so it would be very easy to answer according to an image you wish to project. Perhaps it would be more revealing if a friend answered for you?

I wonder how MNers tend to do? I (heterosexual woman) scored 61% masculine and 25% feminine.

I scored 78% "masculine" and 14% "feminine", which isn't a surprise as I know that I don't perform many aspects of the stereotypically feminine gender role.

I don't see how it can be used to insist that gender roles are natural or heritable when women like me score in this way. Or maybe people who believe that might try and tell me that I have a male brain, or I'm a defective woman!

CisCucumber · 19/12/2017 19:27

I'm androgynous
It's irrelevant of course as I am a woman

MothQuandary · 19/12/2017 19:27

Obviously any sort of test like this is going to be fairly ridiculous. Apart from anything else, I doubt people are good judges of their own attributes. With some of the categories, I wondered what they even meant. “Individualistic” for example. I would say I am exactly as individualistic as anyone else. And “Yielding”?!! It sounds like something from Mills and Boon! Who would say they are yielding?!

But, having had a bash at it, I am also 61% masculine and slightly lower than you on the feminine side (22%). I am also a heterosexual woman.

LangCleg · 19/12/2017 19:30

Hahahahahaha.

I am 75% masculine and 31% feminine. Interesting sums there. This makes me... I have no idea because there is a blank after "this makes you...".

WHY DID THEY NOT ASK ABOUT KNITTING? I DO KNITTING. SURELY THAT'S WORTH A FEW FEMININE POINTS?

RebelRogue · 19/12/2017 19:31

Meh

Masculine/Feminine test
AssassinatedBeauty · 19/12/2017 19:31

I had a blank too, @LangCleg, wondered what that was about.

I think we defy all expectations and should spend the rest of the night preening!

WhatWouldGenghisDo · 19/12/2017 19:35

I had 75% masculine and 36% feminine and I'm 'casually masculine'

(heterosexual woman here)

AssassinatedBeauty · 19/12/2017 19:36
Grin
BelligerentGardenPixies · 19/12/2017 19:37

I'm "Casually Feminine" (53% Masculine 56% Feminine).

I like the "casual" bit, it's a fancy way of saying I can't really be arsed with all the girly shite.

doctorcuntybollocks · 19/12/2017 19:38

Casually masculine, apparently, though I'm a laydee with shirt-dumplings and everything.

HermioneWeasley · 19/12/2017 19:39

I’m 75% masculine. Also definitely a woman

RestingGrinchFace · 19/12/2017 19:42

53 and 56. Straight woman. Test seems pretty pointless and the gender inferences weak.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 19/12/2017 19:42

47% masculine, 36% feminine. Also androgynous.

It's far too black & white. I looked at most of the traits & thought, yes, I'm like that sometimes but it depends on what mood I'm in.

SparklyUnicornTractors · 19/12/2017 19:43

Undifferentiated androgenous.

(Actually a bog standard woman who gender conforms and non conforms depending on mood and what I'm doing today. Only real defining feature my biology.)

Stereotypical bullshit. Women can be anything, men can be anything, it doesn't have to fit into nice named little political boxes.

MothQuandary · 19/12/2017 19:44

It’s odd that some of the results give a total greater than 100%. Less than 100% I can understand but more than 100% is a bit weird.

badbadhusky · 19/12/2017 19:45

Shirt dumplings made me chuckle. Never heard that phrase before.

leghoul · 19/12/2017 19:46

72 masculine 19 feminine
this makes me

PricklyBall · 19/12/2017 19:47

I too am casually masculine, apparently.

It seems like a load of complete bollocks to me (or complete ovaries...). I mean what the fuck has tendency towards jealousy have to do with anything, or having analytical skills?

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 19/12/2017 19:49

Casually masculine. Can't wait to tell Mr Kalinka.

Fruitcocktail6 · 19/12/2017 19:49

I'm 61% feminine and 8% masculine. What about the other 31% Shock

badbadhusky · 19/12/2017 19:49

I just told DH about "shirt dumplings". His reply: "There's a scale problem there. Dumplings are too small." I said it depends how big you make your dumplings.

SonicBoomBoom · 19/12/2017 19:50

Hetero woman.

36% masculine
36% feminine

Undifferentiated androgynous.
