Women's Aid

It has just occurred to me that I have no idea what Women's Aid's position on transwomen in shelters is. I've been supporting them for years but I've never looked into it before. I've googled and found links which are broken and when I search within their site I get no hits. Does anyone know? I feel bad wasting their time emailing when I'm sure the information is out there somewhere already.

Found this from 3 years ago OP.

The link no longer works, but the comments are interesting. I'll keep looking..

I'm not sure they have made a statement either way and very sensible of them as well.

That page has been taken down. We can infer from the comments that Women Aid require a GRC to house or employ TIMS.

They recently employed a TIM in Ireland, and issued a statement when that person resigned after an outcry from women.

There is a statement on this page that states people need specialist services.

Womens Aid Scotland trans guidelines appear to have been written by people who are pro trans, rather than women who have PTSD as a result of male violence.

They've just had a change of CEO. Worth asking them I would say.

Allegedly their stance is "deliberately vague"

BeyondAssignation · 19/12/2017 14:38

They are (on the record) anti-porn, so not choosey choosey

Email sent. I will let you know if I get an answer.

I think they're likely to refer TIMs to a more appropriate service provider, is the impression I get.

Women's Aid in Scotland support changes to the GRA.
