Jenni Harvey has written a great piece entitled 'A Battle for Reality in a Post-Truth World'.
I cannot work out how to make it a link to post here.
Can anyone help?

Put the link inside double square brackets.

Nice article. Thanks, whitehandled.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 09/12/2017 20:09

That's a fantastic article. Jenni - if you are here - please submit that to the Guardian for Comment is Free? Or to the Times. It's incredibly powerful.

Of course none of these people believe it is true. They just think we should put up and shut up.

Popchyk · 09/12/2017 20:27

Very clearly set out.

Can't argue with any of it.

Marmighty · 09/12/2017 21:43

Fantastically clear, the best summary of the issue I've read

Datun · 09/12/2017 23:31

Excellent. Every single thing I read of hers is crystal clear.

LaContessaDiPlump · 09/12/2017 23:36

Is anyone openly of this opinion on Twitter?Maybe tweet Hadley Freeman/Miranda Yardley/Janice Turner.

Alittlepotofrosie · 10/12/2017 08:25

I wish i could share it. But i am not mentally in a position to deal with anyone who is a secret tra on my Facebook page just as I'm a secret terf.

MarrowWang · 10/12/2017 13:05

Look at one of the resonses ffs

Transgender woman are women on the basis of biological reality. You could reject this point, but you’d be in opposition to mainstream scientific and medical opinion. See, for instance, the Endocrine Society’s position paper on transgender identity.

www.endocrine.org/advocacy/priorities-and-positions/transgender-health

Yes, apparently science tells us males are actually female. Who would have thunk it Hmm

hipsterfun · 10/12/2017 14:55

It’ll be a cold day in hell before it makes the Guardian.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 10/12/2017 18:02

Well the guardian sometimes does pop a toe in the water through comment is free.

And they do seem to be possibly starting to understand that, actually, any philosophy which results in you campaigning for Ian Huntley to be in a women's prison might not stand up to the scrutiny of future generations...

hipsterfun · 10/12/2017 18:09

They need to stop dipping their toes and pull their fingers out, quick smart.

I’ve been a Guardian reader for 25 years and I can’t believe how badly wrong they’ve gone.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 10/12/2017 20:28

Me either. But they have basically become a lifestyle magazine for Champagne socialists in the last ten years so it's hardly surprising. Champagne socialists LURVE a bit of patronising the downtrodden without really having to engage their brains.

Gappyonthetwits · 10/12/2017 20:51

Hi everyone. A friend sent me a message with a link to this thread. Thank you so much for the kind words about my article, and keep going with your questioning of gender ideology and trans politics. We are not unreasonable, we are not bigoted, and we are entitled to fight for our rights.

Mumsnet is a really excellent resource for gender critical discussion. I tip my hat to all the women contributing, and also the women behind the scenes who have kept Mumsnet a space in which we can be open about our views.

SophoclesTheFox · 10/12/2017 21:05

Thank you, too gappy. It’s a great article and exactly the kind of incisive analysis we need.
